All Eddie lorries have girls names, today I have seen Alison Joy.
Now lets have some more.

Extra points if you spot one of ther rarer ones like a petrol tanker or a horse box.
You ladies might find there is one with your name on it !

The girls names are usully on the front, and lower down on the cab door.

I think I saw one named Pepe Reina once...

The names are so small that it's difficult to see them when you're trying to keep your eyes on the road!

Oh, it appears there are male names as well, I understood it was all females.
For a fee you can have your name put on a waiting list so one will eventually be named as your wife, gilrfriend/partner etc.

The thing is we're all such careful drivers that we're concentrating on the road rather than the name of the lorry.

I was stuck in a queue on the motorway with "Glenis" a few days ago. If we hadn't been stationary I never would have noticed her name.

Coming over the M62 today I saw 'Janine' 'Indra' and (darn it I have forgotten) - something like Annabelle Jo.

It seems the older lorries just have a single name, but the newer ones have two. (I wonder if there is a Maggie May?)

Tip - Dont forget to look for Tesco lorries, as they often have an Eddie tractor unit on the front

As an, er, counterpoint to this, in my nexk of the woods there's a coach comapny called Golden Boy Coaches. Guess what? All their coaches have male names. Stereotyping or what?

You will see loads driving all the way down there ! I actually saw about 8 this morning but when I got to office I could only remember 4. They are usually towards the bottom of the two cab doors, and also sometimes across the front of the lorry.

Years ago I was told that all the Stobart lorries have two girls' names. But you see quite a few with only one name, and a couple of months ago I saw a rarity - one with three names. Any advances on three?

Yes Ive seen them with 1, 2 and I think just once with 3 names, and I think was a double barrel + one more like Mary-Jane Sue or suchlike. But most seem to have two.
The one mentioned earlier (Catherine Bernadette) , only just squeezed on to the space available at the bottom of cab door. Three long names would not be possible, unless in smaller writing.

Oh and hubby was driving so he was concentrating on the road! My car and on the way up I did some of the driving. Whilst in Cumbria I did most of the driving ( I was support vehicle driver whilst they were on the fells and I stayed lower level)

So no comments about women drivers please as it was me making mincemeat of the Honister Pass!

The single named ones seem to be the oldest trucks, the last one below is the first Ive seen with three names.

I see 'Alexandria' the tanker very regularly on M56 , I think it picks up from Shell Stanlow, and takes fuel to Eddie's depot at Appleton just along M56.

Yesterday I saw 'Selina Sally'.. My paternal granmothers name was 'Selina' and my late mothers name was 'Sally'. Strange that yesterday was also the 4th anniversary of her passing.

No its nearly impossible to read them if they are going the other way (unless very slowly). The easiest is when you pass them, its low down on the drivers door, and then in larger letters across the front so you can check in rear view mirror

On the way home from orchestra tour to Belgium I spotted Francine Julia and Patricia dawn.
There was another helping police with enquiries but I didn't get the name.

No, I was travelling from Inverness to London. 12+ hour journey.

M2 yesterday - Millicent Mary and Lana Scarlett.

On Monday I went past the Headquarters (I assume - a large factory type building by the motorway, with a massive sign saying 'Eddie Stobart').
Today returning home I saw at least 5, but all going in the opposite direction so I couldn't see the names.

Their HQ is near Carlisle, but they have a few more depots around the country. Theres one right by the M56 in Cheshire for example (J10-11). They also own Southend Airport

Ah we were on the M56 so it must have been a depot then.

Suzanne Lesley was on M56 last night.
