Full Version: Ideas for ATCL clarinet programme

Appassionata
Hi,
I've been thinking about doing the ATCL clarinet performance diploma for a while and have learnt various works on and off the syllabus. I was thinking so far of playing:

Weber: Introduction, Theme and Variations
Reade: Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite
Templeton: Pocket Sized Sonata No.1

This will only be about 24/25mins though, so I'm looking for suggestions of around 10 mins (+/- 2mins) to compliment it. I probably won't take the exam till Easter time next year and obviously to need to ask for permission for using my own programme.

Thanks smile.gif

Is there anything short and Classical on the syllabus that might fit?

Love the idea of the Reade.

Two suggestions for you if you're choosing own choice repertoire.

Malcolm Arnold - Sonatina c.8mins

Devienne - Sonata in C minor - c.10 mins

The Reade is a great piece but i dont think it is difficult enough for the level you're considering - take some advice from trinity but i thought all pieces were less than grade 8!

Good luck with the prep.

I've already had the Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite approved (when I was going to do the exam a while back and changed my mind). I think it's okay in the context of other works of a higher level. Thanks for your other suggestions.

I'll have a think, Appassionata - my brain is somewhat mashed up after my own ATCL preparations today! laugh.gif Initial glancing at your (very nice) programme would suggest to me that something Romantic would be a good idea. smile.gif
