Hello all

I've been learning jazz piano for all of 7 months now and boy, do I love it!! I'd like to move on in some way now, and I wonder if any oldies out there have any ideas about how I should move on? i want to continue my lessons, have grade 7 theory, grade 6 practical and love playing, particularly jazz. I've just taken on my first adult learner, too. Any bright ideas, anyone??

Thanks.

Jelly Roll.

I doubt it...!

Do you play with other people? The thing that will move your playing on, and give you more enjoyment, than almost anything else in jazz is to play with others. Particularly as a pianist where the comping role is quite different to when you're playing on your own.

Ideas of where you could go to find people to play with are
- various colleges, community education centres etc run jazz workshops, either regular or one-off
- summer schools are great for immersing yourself in playing
- the friendlier jam sessions at local pubs are good for getting the opportunity to play, and also for meeting others you could play with
