Despite an extensive search I cannot find a decription of a stop labelled CEDAC 8 on the organ at my local Church.
Can anyone enlighten me please ?

Never heard of it, could it be a corruption eg French maybe of Gedackt or Gedeckt. Nearest I could get to it. Is it a soft 8ft on the Swell ? Like a Lieblich Gedeckt ??

Later edit .

Om http://www.organstops.org there is also listed Gedact, and you can listen to one.

Thanks for your reply, it is 8 ft. on the swell. I have listened to the Gedact mentioned above and will try out the stop next visit.
Some of the stop names are very worn. The Principal 4 ft. lettering is almost invisible so perhaps the C is in fact a G.

Many Thanks

Have you looked to see what NPOR thinks the stop might be called?

For an 8' stop on the Swell, I'd put my money on "Gedact" being the actual reading.

You are absolutely right.
The centre portion of the G is worn away making it look like a C and the T indentation can be seen under close inspection.

Many thanks for the replies.
