Thank you all. Here's a strange thing:
I started to play piano again as an adult when I was recovering from appendicitis. I quickly conceived the idea of progressing by way of grade 8 and diploma. I had 34 years of rust laid onto a bare pass at grade 5 as a child and I thought it might take 5 years to get to achieve the diploma, if I worked hard. I fell ill on St Valentines day 2007 and my appendix was removed the following morning. The envelope with my certificate in it arrived through our letterbox on the 5th anniversary of my discharge from hospital!!

I just heard today that a former Kodaly student of mine passed her DipABRSM in piano performance today too (although she said the comments were so damning she had to double-check to see if she had, indeed, passed!)
