At confirmation class last week we read the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and I suddenly had a memory of a verse from a song I used to sing at school. Can't remember if it was in a play (telling the easter story) or was just an easter song. Fairly certain it was primary school - wasn't involved in plays at secondary, and wouldn't have sung anything this simple in the secondary school choir.

Words as follows:

We were on the road to Emmaus
On that Sunday afternoon
We were sad, our faces were cloudy
But Jesus came and cleared our gloom

Can still remember the tune as well - but no ability to write it out at the moment. Certainly sounded fairly modern, maybe with a slight swung rhythm. OH also has a vague memory of it (or something similar) so doubt it was written "in house" but he might be imagining things. You Tube or putting the words into google isn't giving any joy, and it's really starting to bug me now that I can't find it.

Anyone of a similar age with a better memory than me, or a teacher who's come across it since, happen to recognise it and know where it's from. I'm sure there are other verses, but they've disappeared into the mists of time! If I'm right in thinking primary school, that would put it somewhere between 1985 and 1992! but would suspect the latter part of that period as it's so well stuck in my memory.
