Are there any piano students in the South Derbyshire area who would like to meet up with a fellow student (regardless of grade) to practise with and as an aid to improving confidence with playing in front of others?
I am currently studying for grade 7 but still get terribly nervous when playing with an audience - even if it is just an audience of 1! If so please reply.

Why not broaden out and ask for instrumentalists looking for an accompanist? It would be great fun and two happy punters - or 3 if you start doing trio sonatas....

Tenor Viol, I absolutely LOVE accompanying my pupils for exams or fun but had never thought about perhaps putting up a thread on here or somewhere to possibly accompany others, thank you! biggrin.gif

Sorry for butting in on your thread JCW.

Glad to be of service.... biggrin.gif I'll concede a self-interest here rolleyes.gif as I'm getting on with playing the cello I would love to play chamber music and I don't want to repeat the mistakes with the viol which means that other than courses I don't get to play with people (not that viol players are that numerous anyway).

Living where I do, I assume anything that requires travelling 30 miles each way or less for something is "local" and a bit further is not too much of an issue unless it's too regular!

... back to thread....

Well the last post did not get much response so I will ask again....is there anyone out there who plays an instrument who would like to get together? Students or players alike - my reasons are 1) to improve sight reading, and b) to become more comfortable playing infront of others. I am currently studying for grade 7 piano.
I am in the Swadlincote area of South Derbyshire.
