The what are you reading thread got me thinking. . .

OH is very supportive of my attempts to learn to play the violin and a part of that support is buying me DVDs of various artists. I'd say I learn much from watching "the greats" - you can sometimes almost hear the penny drop. biggrin.gif

OH's latest gift is "Jascha Heifetz - Gods Fiddler." An interesting insight into his life and playing - and with some excellent recordings. Other DVDs are "Hilary Hahn - A Portrait" and various Perlman DVDs and a particular favourite is "In Search of the Messiah" which I taped off the telly.

I much prefer to watch players on the TV with music coming out of the audio speakers, rather than on YouTube and the PC speakers. So I was wondering what DVD's/videos have become favourites with other members of the boards?

Do you have a favourite you'd like to recommend, or just mention?

my vote goes for midori at carnegie hall.

I watch her encore (zapateado by sarasate) over and over again

(It can be viewed on youtube but since that's not in the spirit of the thread I won't post a link. It's easily found)

I read "zapateado" and thought I would recommend Frank Zappa "Does Humor Belong in Music" recorded live in 1984 biggrin.gif
