We are moving into a larger house and have been offered various pieces of furniture by our vendors as they are an elderly couple who are downsizing. Actually, most of the stuff they are offering us we actually would like but we don't know how much to offer them for it. Does anyone have any ideas about how to work out what is a fair offer for these items.
Thanks guys.

Maybe look for similar things on ebay and see how much they go for?

This happened to us when we moved into our present house. We agreed to pay for certain items, and then we said we didn't want others. However, when we moved in, the vendors had left some of the items we didn't want simply because (I suspect) it was easier than moving them at the last minute.
And I agree with Tortellini about looking on ebay, or other suitable secondhand places.

I would ask them how much they'd like for them - and then you can negotiate if necessary.
When I moved from my flat in the south of England to here in North Wales, I wanted to leave some of my furniture behind to save the cost of moving it. The onus was on me to set a price and we negotiated it from there.
Hopefully you'll reach an agreement you're both happy with. Good luck with the move and enjoy your new home!
