I've received "smartwater" from an insurance company, but not sure where is the best place to apply for my child's violin. Has anybody used this magic smartwater on your string instruments? I'm a bit reluctant to apply it on the varnish as indicated in the instructions.....

I put a couple of dabs just inside the peg box, a bit under the chinrest and a final dab on the end of the fingerboard. All places where you won't put your fingers.

And it doesn't do anything bad to your varnish.

Thank you KTViola for the advice. Very sensible places for dabs of magicwarter.

I put a bit in the inside corner of the C-bout and a put a blob on the end of my violin next to the end pin, which has left a very noticeable mark on my very expensive violin sad.gif From what I've heard this is extremely rare though

Inside the peg box is a good place, in the inner corner of the C bout also good. Fingerboard as well but don't only put it on the fingerboard as that could be removed by a thief

A good slosh in the peg box, and a 'delicate dabs' under the fingerboard and chinrest for me .....

Bow tip had a good slosh too!

I just put wee dabs blink.gif Will that be enough?

I put it on everything on my insurance policy, including my clarinet. I put it beside the serial number but it left quite a visible 'blob' (smooth black wood of course and I suspect it could be rubbed off). On my string things you can't see it at all smile.gif
