I really liked some of his lieder recordings. Cannot remember which ones now but had to listen to quite a few while being a music student in university

Ah - that's sad. I remember listening to his recording of Dichterliebe for my music O Level.

I have never heard VW's 'Songs of Travel' sung better to this day

How marvellous it must have been for those who were privileged to hear his beautiful baritone in Britten's War Requiem when it premiered in the reconstructed Coventry Cathedral.

A great loss.

Very very sad. He gave so much musical pleasure to so many of us. A really beautiful voice - for me it opened up a kind of music I might otherwise never have learnt to appreciate.
