Ah - that's sad. I remember listening to his recording of Dichterliebe for my music O Level.

How marvellous it must have been for those who were privileged to hear his beautiful baritone in Britten's War Requiem when it premiered in the reconstructed Coventry Cathedral.
A great loss.

Very very sad. He gave so much musical pleasure to so many of us. A really beautiful voice - for me it opened up a kind of music I might otherwise never have learnt to appreciate.
