How long would you allow to get off a flight, wait for baggage, go through security and make your way to Euston?

Travelling by....train? Tube? Car?

Which terminal?

The tube journey is at least 60 minutes, from the train actually departing. It's slightly quicker by Heathrow Express plus tube, but not much. Road travel depends on time of day.

If you're trying to book train tickets, my advice would be think of a number and double it, then add an hour for safety tongue.gif There's some decent cafes etc. at Euston nowadays, so it's not the grimmest of places to have to kill an hour or two.

I'd probably allow an hour at least without the waiting for baggage element which is an unknown entity! - if you go on the Heathrow Express. Probably generous but if you have to buy tickets and you don't want to be in a rush or not quite sure where you're going, then allow lots of time. HE to Paddington is about 15 minutes once you're on the train and then the easiest route is to get a tube to Euston Square (circle/hammersmith line) and walk the last little bit which is about 5 minutes.

Having looked at the TfL website - they say 54 minutes with Heathrow Express, then the 205 bus from Paddington - the bus goes right into the bus station in front of the rail station - but the bus will take about 30 minutes!

If you go on the Piccadilly line tube from whichever terminal you would be at, it will take over an hour once you're on the train but you can change to the Victoria line at Green Park and get off at Euston station tube. It will also be cheaper than the Heathrow Express.

Thanks. I should've said by tube and train.

If you're on a budget, the Piccadilly line is a lot cheaper than Heathrow Express. The change at Leicester Square to the Northern line to Euston is probably easier with luggage than the change to the Victoria Line at Green Park. smile.gif

They recently installed lifts, but I don't know whether they make the Victoria and Piccadilly line platforms accessible. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Park_tube_station - usual wikipedia disclaimer, check accuracy.

It's listed as fully wheelchair-accessible here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/ste...e-guide-map.pdf

Indeed. If you can't avoid adding on a tube or bus journey (i.e. if you're not terminating your journey at Paddington) there's not much point paying the premium to take the Heathrow Express as it won't save much time in the long run.

One thing you could do is just stay on the Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross and walk from there. It's not far, is an easy route (just straight along Euston Road) and might be more straightforward than dealing with changing tube lines with stairs and escalators.

My experience of Heathrow is that it is not nearly as quick as Manchester, which seems better organised.

My most recent experiences (over 12 months ago now) of Heathrow are that progress through passport control is slow, especially at peak times and baggage handling times longer than they ought to be in a modern airport. I'd assume at least an hour for that.

If you get the Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross, you might just as well change to the Victoria line there and go the one stop to Euston. There's a bit of a walk between the two lines but you don't have to come all the way up and go down again. Walking from KX to Euston can be a nightmare with luggage and busy pavements which are not very wide in places, especially walking past St Pancras. Clearly it depends on the time of day but if it is in the day time it would be busy.
