Just a quick question. I'm writing my programme notes for my ATCL on 17th July. When writing the notes for the concerto I'm playing, do I refer to the orchestral part or the piano accompaniment? For example: the cellos enter with a solemn melody, or the accompanist enters with a solemn melody? I know it may seem an obvious question, but want to make sure I do it right. Thanks. smile.gif

Accompanist, Appassionata : refer to what you're actually performing to the examiner, which is clarinet with piano accompaniment. If you want to say that the 'cellos have a particular melody in the original orchestral work, then do, but I wouldn't say it was essential to do so. smile.gif

Seems as good a place as any for this : all the very best for a successful ATCL tomorrow, Appassionata smile.gif clarinet.gif

On the topic of programme notes, how many marks are they worth?

For ATCL, it's mulched in with general presentation (recital conduct and whether you tucked your shirt in and combed your hair!) : the two together are worth 10 marks. The other 90 marks are based on the performance.
