Does anyone have any children that play in the National Children's Orchestra?

Can a child aged 10 now and whom turns 11 in the month of February audition for the Under 11 orchestra 2013?

As long as you are still 13 or under in December 2012 you can audition for 2013. They will decide after audition which orchestra the child goes into.

I think that a child who is still 10 in December would go into the Under 11s or above depending on standard and instrument played.

I find the cut offs confusing. My child is in the orchestra with another child who is a school year above and eleven months older. I think it would be less confusing if it remained in school year group ages.

But to answer your question, they would be eligible for U11 and above.

It's easier to think of it in terms of year of birth eg. for next year 1999 = Mains, 2000= Under 13s, 2001= Under 12s etc.
