Yet again, Dundee United lose a cup final to one of the 'old firm' teams.
After playing so well, I thought United should have won - I'm absolutely gutted they didn't.
(Hopefully Rangers and Celtic will disappear off to the English Premiership sometime soon - that should humble them a bit!
Sorry if I sound bitter - I am!! (Anyway, off to continue drowning my sorrows.
Charlton's last major victory was the FA Cup. In 1947. Just as well I'm patient...
Still, Charlton are in a decent position in the Championship - wouldn't it be nice if Charlton and Plymouth got promoted?
I just feel that there is such a gulf between the 'top' teams and the rest because of money. For example, in Scotland in the 1980's, Aberdeen and Dundee United were as likely to win things as Rangers and Celtic were. But now, it is assumed that Rangers and Celtic will take first and second places and that the rest are competing for third place; the old firm buy the best players from the other Scottish teams thus weakening the other teams - unfortunately, with the ridiculous wages, players don't need much coaxing to go to the 'big teams'. I feel sad that teams like Dundee United, Notts Forest and Leeds United, who were once competent european teams, are now considered nothing more than mediocre.
Anyway, I'll cheer Charlton on from now on (except when they are playing Plymouth!
