What's everyone's favourites??

I love Dean Markleys, they're great. I intend to try some D'addarios soon and some Ernie Balls.

Any comments?? biggrin.gif

Hi Odball,

I use D'addario's normally, I find I get a lovely sound out of my Spanish guitar.

By the way, there's a really good forum for guitarists I've just found...http://www.delcamp.net/forum/en/ You'll be able to find lots of different discussions about strings, guitars, music...everything!

Happy foruming!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Viohazard uses D'Addario too. I may be kidding myself, but I have the feeling that a new set of strings makes an even more dramatic difference on his guitar than on his violin.

I can' really speak for violin, but I really dread my guitar ensemble lessons when more than one of them has got new strings on. I'm generally running back and forward between them turing the pegs as they play!!

...I guess the idea is not to change your strings the day of your lesson! When Viohazard first changed his strings himself, he somehow wound them onto the keys "back to front" in his left-handed way, and the teacher took them all off again...

if these are wound nylon strings then they sure have that extra zing when new don't they? definately.

then they start to stretch and become regular in tone.

You can avoid letting new strings get out of tune by stretching them. You can give the Bottom E and the A string a good-old tug, and getting lighter as you go up.

D'addarios sound cool.

Encore strings! You just wouldn't believe how good they are! Everybody goes for top-of-the-range Rotosounds, Dean Markleys, D'Addario and Elixirs, but the best strings I've ever used are the cheap as chips Encores!

I have an Encore guitar, Fender Strat copy. It's actually very good....I think I've used encores before, but that was way back when I didn't change my strings that often.... blink.gif

Now I change them every month or so..
