When I did A level instead of 'N' it was U (Ungraded) which we said was for useless!

Come on, Positive thinking now, and then IF something goes wrong, you'll have a positive attitude as to how to sort it out!
Instead of "my life is over", which it won't be coz something better will come along.
I think I dreamed about getting my results, but I don't know what I got!
saxlover
Aug 11 2005, 08:45 AM
Yes, I've dreamed almost every night about my results - and every time I've failed everything!
elmo
Aug 11 2005, 08:50 AM
Yeah but that's coz you're thinking all day "oh am gonna fail" so when you go to sleep, it's "oh I'm still failing"!!!!
What did I tell you about planes and dreaming?!
saxlover
Aug 11 2005, 08:51 AM
Planes???..........................ooooh yes I remember hehe!
elmo
Aug 11 2005, 09:00 AM
Yes well, I dreamed I was on a plane to Portugal, when actually that's where you're going. But because I was thinking about it when I went to sleep, I dreamed it!
What's the worst that's gonna happen on results day: you won't get your grades and Bangor don't let you in.
Ok 2 choices : resit and spend another year at school, then reapply OR go through clearing and see where you end up
You don't want to resit and stay at school for many reasons, so you could try clearing.
If you get offered somewhere you really don't want to go, you don't have to accept it.
Although you could come to Hull, like me

I never dream anything like that but elmo is right, you dream what you're subconsiously thinking during the day. My friend had loads of continous dreams one week, every time she dreamt she missed the school bus, someone else missed it instead, and the day she dreamt she was the only one on the bus and everyone else missed it, she missed it the next day....

Oh I've remembered what I got in my dream! I got B's in french and music, a C in General studies and an E in German! That's (apart from the E lol) is exactly what I needed to get in!
saxlover
Aug 11 2005, 09:12 AM
See you'll get in no problem! And if you get a B in music that means I'll get a C

Aug 11 2005, 09:19 AM
No, when you think of results day, whay do you think of? Panic. stress, anxiety, POSITIVE!!!, or negative?
saxlover
Aug 11 2005, 09:20 AM
All of the above apart from positive!!
crazy_purple_piano_freak

I think 'positive' and 'optimistic' disappear completely from our vocabularies around about this time...

I've dreamt about my results twice now. The only thing I can remember though was getting an A instead of an A* in Biology, and my teacher being really disappointed. Which is strange, because I'm not doing Biology at A-level.
And 14 days...

*Slaps forehead again*
I'm inclined to agree with you, yes you are hopeless
What good does being negative make you feel? Twice as worse, lots of dread
Yes you might be building yourself up for a fall, but the fall doesn't hurt any more if you think positively!!!
If you're positve in yourself, it'll come across that way to other people, and that doesn't make you bigheaded or anything, it makes you something that other people will base themselves on. If everyone was negative, no one would get up in the morning.
And being positive means you can't be realistic at the same time. "Realisitcally I might've failed *all* my exams. But on the other hand, I might not have, and since I can't do anything about it now, I'm not going to waste pointless energy worrying about it"
And don't say "oh but I have failed all my exams"

Aug 11 2005, 09:32 AM
Yeah I know that's what you're doing! But being positive doesn't mean you're going to have done well in it, bt if something does go wrong, them you'll at least have some sort of idea as to how to sort it out. Instead of staring at the piece of paper, bursting into tears and being inconsolable for the next week, by which time it's too late to sort out a uni place!
(Exageration and cry all you want, coz crying isn't something bad either!)
Results day isn't a very good place to start thinking positively though!

I keep dreaming either I have done really well or I have done really badly. So I am being pessimistic, because now I just have no idea how I have done. Also, I'll probably start crying anyway...and I am going to find it hard to tell people.

Aug 11 2005, 05:44 PM
Try not to worry too much. I know its hard (I've been there too) but there's no point in worrying until you actually get you results and then you'll see there was nothing to worry about. I'm sure you've all done very well. So worrying would just be a waste of time.
