[FONT=Arial]anyone who does singing grades, can i talk to you? tel me a bit about yourself and your favourite songs and any exams or competitions you've done/been in. also, have you done any shows in school or in a theatre or on any stage? if so, what and where?

my username (tmint) is the first letters of a line of a song i like. its form blood brothers - can you guess what it stands for?

ok - about me... i'm 14 years old, my name is Rosie and i do singing lessons and grades at school. i have done the following exams:
Preparatory singing
Grade 1
Grade 2
Grade 3
Grade 4
and i am currently preparing to take grade 5 and grade 5 theory.

i have participated in the following shows at school:
The Nativity in reception of course
various xmas shows at my old school and here (i started here in year 5)
Nicholas Nickelby
currently in rehearsing for The Sound of Music

I have participated in these musicals at my local theatre (the key theatre):
Oliver
Calamity Jane
Godspell (in which i did my first spotlight duet laugh.gif )
Jesus Christ Superstar (JCS)
Around the world in 80 days (not a musical)
Blood Brothers

My favourite musicals are Grease, Blood Brothers and Miss Saigon at the moment.

I live with my mum, dad and my 7-year-old sister. we have 1 mouse called Morag (we had another called shamrock, but she died in the summer hols). my favourite colour is blue, my favourite food is noodles and vegetarian stir fry (i'm vegetarian). my favourite season is winter. i think that bullies are stupid and i also think that smoking and taking drugs is stupid too. you don't have to tell me all these random details, but you can if you want.
now it's your turn...

Hi tmint,

I'm not a singer myself, but you would probably have better luck if you ask in the Viva Voice Forum.

Cheers,

tmint

Katet
I love phantom of the opera! Going to see the musical later this month, cant wait!
violinandpianogurl
I've seen Phantom on stage! It's great!

Anyway, singingwise I'm a mezzo but I sing alto in school choir.

I am a 17 yr. old soprano, and have been singing since I was old enough to talk! I started taking lessons when I was 11, and have been taking them ever since. I plan to go to college next year and major in Music Education. I have completed through level 3 in the exams, and have done level 1 in theory. I am scheduled to take the level 4 exam next month! Wish me luck!!!

I have been in numerous Christmas plays at my church and have been in the choir.

btw: I absolutely LOVE the Phantom of the Opera!!! It is my favorite musical!
beltanegirl
I'm a 19 year old singer ranging from mezzo to tenor so naturally most stuff I sing is alto lol. I've got my G5 and I'm looking at doing my G5 theory soon i hope (when I've got the flaming 2x2,500 word essays I've got for Englsh and History A-level out the way *shudder*)

I love musicals I must have sung most of the king and I by now plus les Mis and Oliver. I used to be in Choir at school but me and choir mistress had a difference of Opinion (I thought she was arrogant, self-opinionated and rude she thought i was lackadaisical and not devoted to music enough) so I quit. i was in my church choir but i don't go to church anymore (we did joseph and the technicolour dreamcoat though which is one of my faves)

I'm a non-professional folk-singer ATM when I'm not being an A-level student. I want to be a human rights lawyer but if i had the chance I'd love to be record a folk album I'm hoping I can get good enough at guitar to start accompanying myself cos right now I'm singing a capella.

btw my names Charley and I'm in london
tmint
thats cool. shame about your choir person though. i don't think I have enough confidence to be a professional singer, but I would like to work behind the scenes in a theatre or be a film director. I could do your recording for you...lol...nah, i'm not that good... cool.gif
this is helen
heeey. i'm helen, i'm 16 and i sing. i'm a soprano and am currently studying for grade 8 which i am going to take in either the spring or the summer. the last singing exam i did was grade 6. i plan for a career in the opera, as a professional musician or as a music teacher.

i love classical and opera music. not so much a fan of singing songs from musicals to be honest...probably 'cause my voice doesn't suit those types of songs lol. i like watching shows though.

i take part in the productions my school puts on...currently doing Godspell which opens in February.

i am currently preparing for my county's young singer of the year competition.

sorry if that sounds like a resumé lol.

I'm found out yesterday that I'm doing my Grade 5 in 12 days! I'm singing:
Where the Bee sucks
A Virgin's slumber song (a.k.a. Maria Wiegenlied)
I could have danced all night (From My Fair Lady...I like this song)
I know where I'm going (unaccompanied)

Does anyone else know any of these songs?
Wish me luck, people!

Hopefully the preparation is already done and tmint just got the date.
Although you do hear of people being entered for exams unprepared I think it unlikely that preparation has been left this late?
