One of my pupils has got 30/30 a couple of times.
Embarrassingly, she's also my daughter. If any of my 'paying' pupils found out, they might wonder why I don't teach them to get the same marks. I think it's just because she gets more lessons than anyone else!

Very impressive - but I'm even more impressed by the fact that your daughter actually listens to you!

My highest mark is 29 for a G4 piano piece I played way too fast because I was nervous - obviously did the trick though!

Having read that Clara has only given 4 marks of 30 in 10 years, you can imagine my surprise when daughter 1 got 29,30,30 for grade 5 harpin November, and then 21 for scales! However she does practice a lot, particularly scales and arpeggios. Sight Reading and aural could improve a bit though!!
Her teacher was fairly surprised too!

I got 29s for all of my pieces in grade four sax. I got 139 overall which is my best ever and one day I
AM going to beat it.
I've managed a 30 once, in grade four piano. It was the Freeway, by Houghton. I can't remember which syllabus but it was the purple book

I think I've got a few 29s and 28s although I can't remember them all.
And I've got 18/18 for aural in every exam apart from one, which I got 17.
Just scales and sight reading that let me down every time.

Grade 1 Piano 18 - 20 - 23
Grade 2 Piano 26 - 22 - 24
Grade 3 Piano 26 - 26 - 27
Not as high as some but I'm pleased I'm gradually improving which is largely due to getting 'used' to playing in front of an examiner!!
The first time was just so nerve racking I could hardly play a note

29 in Grade 5 piano (C3 - Fanfare). It was also part of my best ever total score of 131.
I was quite surprised, because I didn't really think it was my best one. I got 24 and 25 for the other 2 pieces. I was pleased though!

My best was 27/30 in a grade 1 piece that I particularly liked. It was on the 1999 syllabus I think - forget the title of it though, something to do with pear trees though I remember, really nice piece though

Strangely, in grades 1, 2 and 4 (didn't do 3), I got 26 each time for list C piece. Maybe I just prefer the jazzy ones. My grade 5 C piece was less 'jazzy' and it got 20, lol

I've just been to the music centre where my children learn, to pick up a couple of certificates and mark sheets. All the marks fron the last session are on display. Of the 30 candidates taking AB exams, 5 received 30 for one piece (not including my daughter (G6 violin) - her highest on this occasion was 28).
Just goes to show that some examiners are quite happy to give top marks. I think this examiner was particularly generous. She could not otherwise have given my daughter 17 for her scales. She came out of the exam saying that they were dreadful and had been expecting a single figure mark!

Sometimes i think that they don't give a full mark because one can never be completely perfect in any music perfomance.

I think some examiners are reluctant to give full marks in any part of the exam, no matter how good - I've had marks knocked off when the comments were uniformly excellent and there was no explanation for marks being knocked off. I imagine examiners like that must expect something a good deal more than an excellent amateur performance even in the scales section of the exam *wry grin*

Just found the crit sheet
and the certificate and found that I got 25 for all three pieces! Not a massive mark by the standards of a lot of players here, but it sounds great to me. (Although as the overall mark was as I remembered, this means that my marks for the other 3 tests were correspondingly lower than I'd thought

I've got 29 a lot of times, and lots of 28s and 27s too. In my grade six sax I got 29 for my best piece, and I'm sure it would have been thirty if I hadn't stumbled on one note. The examiner did say bravo at the end of it though, which to me meant more than the mark. I always mess up on scales though "/
