I didn't realise how addicted I'd become to the forums until yesterday, when I tried a few times to get here and couldn't. Had to go and practise instead
Recovering from the withdrawal symptoms now, and glad that we're back!

I wouldn't have thought it was planned maintenance since we may well have got a warning in advance.. plus the main ABRSM site was down too and I doubt they would intentionally do that...

It felt so strange - just like when I was a little boy, all my friends had gone away and there was nobody to play with.
I sometimes direct colleagues to interesting threads on these forums, always with the warning that it is best not to start contributing because it is addictive.

I'm glad it wasn't just me, too.
what's this "recordings website"? I think I would have liked to go there just to hear other people saying "what's happened to the forums"!

I thought it was my computor not working. I'm going to have to grovel on the floor and ask for forgivness because I called it stupid (the computor) and stubborn and other things I won't repeat. I even whacked the top of the moniter to see if it would help. It didn't.

The recordings website was set up as somewhere to put recordings of ourselves playing so other people can listen and leave comments. The site address is in my signature, or - repeated here for your convenience:

how do you bookmark it? I could add it to "my favourites" but is there some other in house way?
edit - problem solved, I think! I've pasted the web address into the little notepad at the bottom of "my controls". Now I can cut and paste it into the address bar and that will get me there! I've had a look at the chat last night - that was just what I needed but if you don't know where you're looking it's like looking for a needle in a haystack!

Sorry for the confusion I meant add it to your favourites. I use the term bookmark because I don't use Internet Explorer; besides the term favourite implies one likes the site, one could easily need to bookmark a site one doesn't like (for example sites for bill payments)

.
P.S. if the forum goes down again (unlikely but if that's what you want the link for) you won't be able to get to the link in my controls. If you don't want to add it to your favourites, I find emailing something to myself is a good way to ensure I have a record of it

I am sooooooo stupid! I was sitting there smugly looking at the snippet in "my controls" thinking "I won't have to go trawling through the forums looking for that, next time".
The only thing is the music folder in "my favourites" looks a bit like a university scarf already. However one more link won't make much difference. Thanks for the tips AP!
