I do this when I'm not particularly happy, or if I'm ill or something, but I like doing it to keep positive thinking up!

My achievement for the week was managing to do a somersault at trampolining yesterday, something which I get scared everytime I remotely try by myself, and I've been trying since February!! But it was different coaches, and for once when I fell over, they didn't land on top of me! (coz my last one was shorter than me, and these ones are 6 foot lads lol)

so yeah, that's mine, what's yours?

Week? As in starting TODAY?? (hmm...not feeling any better..)

Only achivement: Virtual engagement to Choddy! biggrin.gif
elliewelly
I made a bunch of Christmas and birthday cards, and did some paperwork, and cooked dinner even though I'm housebound with back problems. When I move my legs or try to stand up, the bones in my pelvis hurt in a way which feels like having the two halves of a broken bone pulled apart.
elliewelly
I ought to add, this should be on the mend in a few weeks.

Quite a lot of trampolinists coming out of the woodwork here biggrin.gif (actually I knew that elmo did it smile.gif). Well done for the somersault elmo (if you go to the Scottish Student Open competition I might see you there smile.gif); and well done to Rainbow for the seat drop smile.gif.

The main thing I achieved at trampolining this week was to hurt my neck doing a straight back sommersault to back sad.gif (didn't hurt until this morning...). On the plus side I did get the fun of doing a double back sommersault in the rig biggrin.gif. I was being a guinea pig to be thrown around in a coaching course and had a high-performance coach correcting my bad habits of a life time that day: honestly, wanting me to have my eyes open when I'm upside down so I can see where I'm going ohmy.gif wink.gif.
Rainbow
Well done everyone!

There is talk of a competition in scotland smile.gif Dunno where it is or when though. My mum told my PE teacher that I could do a somersualt and would be starting back ones nect and she said "she can't do that, she'll be better than me!" lol. t'll probably take me another 6 months to learn that one too!!

I decided I don't keep my eyes open in a somersualt. Do you think it's something I should try though?! blink.gif It's too scary!!

Well done especially to all those academic achievements! And waves of get better ness to AP and elliewelly coz of their injurries!

Ooh, might see you there then biggrin.gif. If it is a competition in Scotland it will probably be the open I'm not sure where it is yet; I have a feeling it might be at Dundee University. Keep going with the somersaults, you've got to the really fun bit now biggrin.gif.

I am always told that I should keep my eyes open, so you should try to I guess. I don't like seeing things going past too quickly though so I shut mine after I've taken off and open them before I land (they just seem to know when to open, you probably do the same...). It's much more confusing with eyes open and more scary, I think my inner ear (i.e. sense of spacial awareness/balance) is better at telling me where I am than my eyes when I can just see a blur wink.gif. Try it if you can do it, but I wouldn't worry too much if you can't (encouraging bad technique now wink.gif ph34r.gif).

Correctly completing a Sudoku on the first attempt. OK, it was an easy one, but I'm rubbish at them (but less rubbish than last week laugh.gif).

Well Jazzy violin (like Sarah) has to count

But also I can now play 5 notes on my recorder.....not too confidently yet unsure.gif . But surely now I should be able to play a tune of some description. YAY!
AnotherPianist
I can still remember the first tune I ever played on the recorder 'Busy Bee' and that only had one note so I'm sure with five you'll be able to play something smile.gif. I'm sure it would be more exciting than 'Busy Bee' too wink.gif.

Treble...but it might depend which 5 notes I can do laugh.gif

Treble...but it might depend which 5 notes I can do

yes - true - I guessed that it might be CDEFG but tell me if I'm wrong ...
C with 3 fingers that is, D with 2 etc.

OK - you'd need B as well to play it in this key:
B is like G without RH finger one - if you feel like trying - the first line goes :

B B C D D C B A G G A B B. A A

think in 4/4; steady crotchets, except for the dotted B which is a dotted crotchet, the next A is a quaver and the last A is a minim.

Sorry it's musical shorthand and not properly written out tongue.gif but worth a go maybe.

The second line is the same except it ends G G A B A. GG

laugh.gif yes that's the one. Then the next tune in the book was 'Big A Little A, Bouncing B' involves twice as many notes though wink.gif. I'd guess that to get the notes requiring the fewest fingers on a treble one would have to use different notes though, wouldn't quite have the same ring as 'Busy Bee'; I'd stick to the Beethoven Jane smile.gif.

No problem.
Great to play a tune!

You can also do
Au Clair de la Lune ...

Line 1
C C C D E D C E D D C

Again steady crotchets; the E and D in the middle are minims and the C at the end is a semibreve.

Line 2 is the same.

Line 3 is -

DDDD A A D C B A G
with the rhythm the same as line 1.

Line 4 is the same as line 1

Great ...real tunes!!!

Who needs a tutor book when you have the forum biggrin.gif
sarah-flute
Hehehe.... I'll see if I can look some out for you too. How's it going with the John Pitt book? Do you know when your new tutor book should arrive?

I got Jazz Viola Wizard Junior this morning! Really good fun, though I was playing on the flute with it today.... laugh.gif

It's like everything else you'll have good days and bad days; unfortunately bad days at trampolining are worse than bad days at music as one can end up landing on one's head wink.gif. Next time you go trampolining it'll be magically better smile.gif.

How many days a week do you train? Most weeks we only get one day's training and two if we're very lucky sad.gif.
