Do any of u know how to play "Barry and Freda" on piano? Its by victoria wood, the comedienne (also pianist). I cant find it on google, and was hoping one of u knew where it was or i'd be even more grateful if u could work it out by ear coz its only a short theme repeated over and over again.
Thanks, and i'd appreciate it if u found it.

I once possessed that songbook. I was watching an auction on Ebay and the book, which is now deleted, realised £47.Considering it cost me £7.99 I did something naughty. I contacted the 2nd highest bidder and he offered me £25 for my used copy.
All against Ebay rules, but hey,I sent it him with free P&P.
She did some fab songs...extremely funny. One of my favs was about this wronged wife, who, in the end, finished off the adulterous hubs by throwing in an electrical appliance whilst he was in the bath!!! Shouldn't have called her a fat cow, should he? That will teach him...and all to the haunting strains of "In the bleak mid winter" on a theme.
Sure it must be here somewhere...Sat Night was great too....Tracey and Kimberley...Ha!

Found it!
When the leaves are falling
As sung by Victoria Wood on the video An Audience With Victoria Wood
When the leaves are falling,
The sun sets o'er the lea,
I think I hear you calling,
Calling out to me.
Your voice is not forgotten. I think I hear it now,
"Get your arse in here, Trace, you stupid cow."
I always shall remember
The night we two were one.
That evening in September,
A star peeped out and shone.
You said to me so softly, underneath that star,
"Help us out for Christ sake with this poxy bra."
The moon was pale,
The nightingale
That sang our wedding song.
I must confess,
I did not guess
That things could go so wrong.
The dreadful day we parted
Must never be forgot.
In the bath you'd started
Topping up the hot.
Snow lay on the pavements. Ice was in my heart.
You called out, "Bring the heater in, you big-bummed tart".
I switched on the heater
And then I heard you say,
"I've met a girl called Rita.
She's moving in today."
I gripped the fire so tightly and then, I know not how,
I dropped it in the water. Well, it's too late now.

I've got the Lucky Bag: The Victoria Wood Song Book, 2nd edition published 1992 by Methuen, ISBN 0-7493-0819-2 with "Barry & Freda" in it.
It's quite a complex piece (well i think so), it's in 5 keys (4 key changes).
It is essentially repeated over and over but moving up every few verses or so.
The Glissando at the very start is simple (but painful unless you have practiced!), but when looking at Victoria Wood's actual performance of the piece she embelishes every part with extra bass notes and "shifts up" to each chord which isn't written in the music, in addittion often using demiquavers for the block chords.
I've playing it for 2 years now, very rarely is it "Wood" perfect, but quite good (so i'm told!)
It really does take a knack and hours upon hours of practice.
I know it off by heart now!

Victoria wood mad, (nice name, hehe, really!, i like it!) do u think u could send it me? either scan it onto ur comp and do it that way, or some other way. I would really appreciate it if u could.
Thanks.
Or if u cant do that just give me a jist of what chords she plays for the main bit (not the glissando's at the beginning)

Memories!!!! But I've always had better taste in perfumes...
Oh dear! What can the matter be?
Eight o’clock at night on a Saturday,
Tracey Clegg and Nicola Battersby
Coming to town double quick.
They rendezvous in front of a pillar.
Tracey’s tall like Jonathan Miller.
Nicola’s more like Guy the Gorilla,
If Guy the Gorilla were thick.
Their hair’s been done. It’s very expensive.
Their use of mousse and gel is extensive.
As weapons, their heads would be classed as offensive
And put under some kind of a ban.
They’re covered in perfumes, but these are misnomers.
Nicola’s scent could send dogs into comas.
Tracey’s kills insects and dustbin aromas,
And also gets stains off the pan.
Chorus:
But it’s their night out.
It’s what it’s all about,
Looking for lads, looking for fun,
A burger and chips with a sesame bun.
They’re in the mood
For a fabulous interlude
Of living it up, painting the town,
Drinking Barcardi and keeping it down,
But it’s all alright.
It’s what they do of a Saturday night.
Oh dear! What can the matter be?
What can than terrible crunching and clatter be?
It’s the cowboy boots of Nicola Battersby
Leading the way into town.
They hit the pub, and Tracey’s demeanour
Reminds you of a loopy hyena.
They have sixteen gins a rum and Ribena,
And this is before they’ve sat down.
They dare a bloke from Surrey called Murray
To phone the police and order a curry.
He gets locked up. It’s a bit of a worry,
But they won’t have to see him again.
They’re dressed to kill and looking fantastic.
Tracey’s gone for rubber and plastic.
Nicola’s dress is a piece of elastic.
It’s under a heck of a strain.
Chorus:
But it’s their night out.
It’s what it’s all about,
Ordering drinks, ordering cabs,
Making rude gestures with doner kebabs.
They’re in the mood
For a fabulous interlude
Of weeing in parks, treading on plants,
Getting their dresses caught up in their pants,
And it’s all alright.
It’s what they do of a Saturday night
Oh dear! What can the matter be?
What can that terrible slurping and splatter be?
It’s Tracey Clegg and Nicola Battersby
Snogging with Derek and Kurt.
They’re well stuck into heavyish petting.
It’s far too dark to see what you’re getting.
Tracey’s bra flies off, how upsetting,
And several people are hurt.
Oh dear, oh dear,
Oh dear, oh dear,
Oh dear! What can the matter be?
What can that motheaten pile of old tatters be?
It’s Tracey Clegg and Nicola Battersby
Getting chucked off the last Ninety-Two
With miles to go and no chance of hitching,
And Nicola’s boots have bust at the stitching,
Tracey laughs and says, "What’s the point ######ing?
I couldn’t give a ######. Could you?"

Sbhoa - The book is OUP. I suppose Reignmurda could try Amazon.
Reignmurda- Yes I aware of your request, but wanted to post the lyrics anyway. From what I can remember of the songs, they are not too difficult to play.
It really would be better if you could get hold of a copy as it would involve a lot of scanning.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/det...3981155-7867061Goodness me! From £85. I don't think so.
