Full Version: A Real Soloist!
Forums > Viva Network > Viva Voice
katyjay
I've just seen the flyer that's been sent to all the people on our choir's mailing list for the Christmas concert.

IT'S GOT MY NAME ON IT!!! Not just a solo from the choir but as a real, proper, official soloist. The other soloist is a professional baritone brought in for the occasion.

So, excuse me while I admit to being a bit pleased.

WooooooHooooooo!

Cheers

Sorry Nicki and Christina, I'm afraid the only recording kit I've got is a tape recorder, and I don't know how/have the kit to transfer recordings from that to the computer.

Cheers

Can I have the new flyer as well? You're not on the one you gave me this afternoon. sad.gif I'll swap one for the poster or the programme of our concert on Saturday, for which I had to write a biography. It's quite funny when you read the other biographies on it. biggrin.gif (eg 'played with Sir Andrew Davies', worked with 'Sir Simon Rattle' whereas mine says 'studied at the Watford School of Music' tongue.gif ).

Let me know if you want to borrow my home recording studio next week. wink.gif

Yes, as soon as I can get my sticky paws on enough of them (and I have to send them to my Mum, Mum-in-Law, sundry Aunties, best friends etc.) What I gave you this afternoon was one of the small posters, which doesn't have any names on it.

Sounds like a deal.

Ooh er the biography....that's the other thing I've got to do now. "Katyjay has had thirty-three months of lessons during which time she has moved from gossiping in the back row of the choir to standing out in front of them. She has sung in a wide range of locations including a former lunatic assylum, the Royal Albert Hall and Egham High Street. Operatic roles include First Cat in Rossini's Duetto Buffo di Due Gatti and a refugee in a coat and headscarf. She has added Portsmouth and Guildford to the list of Cathedrals at which she has sung Evensong.... Her hobbies include playing the piano, recorder and violin, getting lost in Hampshire, and Chartered Accountancy, although she finds herself having less time to devote to the last of these...."

How do you get lost in Chartered Accountancy?

On second thoughts, don't answer that. ph34r.gif

It's a great feeling. I remember walking through town last Christmas and seeing a poster advertising a Christmas Concert which proudly stated at the bottom:

At the Organ:
David Barton

What a wonderful phrase!!! Sadly, I never got hold of a copy to put in the archives!!! Maybe this year (though I haven't been asked yet!)

If I can get lost in a tax return, I'm sure it must be a doddle in chartered accountancy!

Love the biog, but unfortunately I can't make it to the concert (Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols that day), but I'm sure you'll be fab! This must surely be the start of something much bigger, so I look forward to hearing you at Glyndebourne and Covent Garden, on the live relays from the Met, and when I get tickets to Bayreuth.
