Hiya.
This really doesnt have a right answer, i just want ur opinions.
When i listen to a certain singer, i notice that they have certain ways of singing (hallmarks? i think u might call them?). Say for instance singer A does lots of vibrato, long notes. Singer B feels comfortable singing each note but going higher at the end of each phrase. That sort of thing.
What i want to know is how to find and develop my own singing style, so that when singer A does HER style, (which i might not be able to do) i can do my own style which would be fine?
i hope u get it.

BASICALLY, every singer has a style, and becase i cant copy every singer's style when i sing along to different songs. i want to use my own singing style.

My friend once lent me this book "How to sing like the Stars" by Roger Love, I think. There is a great chapter all about how to develop you own style. It's a very good book, there is also some information on how to look your best when performing and the perfect diet for a singer. I think you should check it out.

I don't think it's something you can be taught to do. It's something which I guess you discover and develop over time. I always try to persaude my own singing pupils to sing mostly songs they don't know, otherwise, I just end up with exact copies of CD's etc.
