I've noticed that I've had trouble buzzing in the tuba lately. It doesn't make clear, rich sounds, but broken, dry sounds. It seems like my lips are too dry when I buzz, but that wasn't it. Like, the other day, I buzzed a low C, and it made the same icky broken sound. I've tried buzzing harder, but it just becomes louder. What can I do?

try just playing long notes to imporve you lip muscles - make sure you're keeping your lips tight - you should be pulling your lips from all directions - and have a nice small hole in the middle - this shoudl improve tone - and if your tucking you lip over you teeth, stick out your top jaw - lip tucking does made higher notes a bit thin - and can be a problem donw low - im not too shure about tuba as i mainly play trumpet

Hey, i play tuba too, and getting down to those low notes doesn't seem that much of a problem for me, can hit pedal A on an Eb bass, BUT, the high range on mine is really struggling, mainly because i've recently got a brace. I used to be able to go to top C or D (i mean three above middle C) but now struggle getting to a B.
