If you have a computer and a microphone, have a look at the Audio Phonics Tuner. It says it's for guitar, but it can be used to tune anything smile.gif.

I have the korg tuner, it was about £19. It's good.

Hmmm... interesting ! I use a Yamaha PT100 tuner for my job (see below), but I'm not really satisfied; it is not quite infallible.

I have a Korg too I think.

Here's the description of the tuner I have:

Korg CA30 chromatic tuner
A compact auto-chromatic tuner, ideal for band and orchestra, with a 7 octave range. High precision LCD needle-type meter. Sound out internal speaker. Calibrated for A410 to A480. Auto power-off and approximately 100 hours life from the included batteries.

Our Price: £17.00

I might order ir from you in a few weeks when I have some money!

my korg was cheaper than that, only 13 quid from the music shop in belfast!(bought a few days ago, I lost my old korg) I've been encouraging all my singing students to get one!

I've recently bought an Intellitouch CP-2 Centre Pitch Universal Intonation Tool, £23.50 via the internet from ScotAudio in Stirling (the cheapest price I could find after searching). This clips on and works on vibrations from the instrument, and is suitable for strings, woodwind and brass. It has a reader which has three arrows to the left and three to the right. If you need to raise the pitch you have fewer arrows on the right, and vice versa if you need to lower it. As it reads off your instrument alone it is suitable for use when other people are tuning up around you. The reader adjusts to a convenient position for reading (though I don't know how you would manage to see it with a flute or piccolo!).

I have found that it works very well on my cello, but not on my recorders - it will do some notes but not others on those, presumably because the sound vibrations aren't strong enough on some notes.

My intonation has improved considerably on the cello since using it. See it here

Thanks but I think I'd rather a normal one

I've thought about e-bay, and although I buy from there, I'd prefer to get this from a reputable shop, so I have guarantee it works.

Go for the Korg Ca-30. I quite like it.
