Has anyone dun the audition? Is it hard?
Also i went to an orchestra b4 a small one but every1 was in little groups and nobody attempted to talk to me or make friends with me even though i tried to be friendly so i quit. I am in string group at school and i really like playing in orchestras, singing in choirs etc because i get nervous on my own butr enjoy performing.
Any information or advice wud be appreciated

Just go for it if you enjoy performing in orchestras: if you go and don't get in you're no worse off than you would have been if you didn't go (and you'll have some experience of auditions); if you do get in then you'll get to enjoy playing the music. Your teacher obviously believes that you can do it and (s)he should know smile.gif.

congradulations in passing grade four! biggrin.gif you might as well audition, i mean if you enjoy being in orchestras what harm can it do?i used to be in an orchestra aswell and realy enjoyed it but i quit for the same reason as you because i didnt really know anyone in it. sure if worst comes to worst you can always quit this one but you wont know if you dont try it!!

Many years ago I used to be in the Lancashire Students Symphony Orchestra and loved it. Got to go abroad a couple of times, meet new people and it improved my playing no end!

At grade 4 I guess you would apply for the Lancashire Students Training Orchestra, am I right? I'm sure you'll have no problems with the audition! Don't know about these days but they used to let people into the main symphony orchestra at around grade 6 standard...so if that's what you're auditioning for then i'd just double check on the standard expected first!

Anyway, go for it, i'm sure you'll have a fabulous time there, just like I did!

Good Luck...
