I think this thread is really unfair to some people but you can get your grade 8 in when you are young but you have already learn the instrument for like 10 years. I should be depending on the years you have learnt rather than age!!

He thinks it should be number of years it's taken to get to grade 8 rather than age you got to grade 8 as some people are late starters (although this wasn't the point of the original thread LOL!)

17. Might have been earlier if I hadn't moved, with a consequent change to a not very good teacher for a year.

To be quite honest I don't think it matters that much when you have your grade 8, still doesn't mean you're a good musician! Obviously it does prove your ability, but I don't see any shame in not having one after 20 years of playing!

11?!?!?! VIOLIN!!!!??? ahhhh lol. I'm 19 and haven't done grade 8 in an instrument, but have it in Musical Theatre, Violin - g4, but I can play g6/7 pieces but can't be bothered to do anymore grades with that, as am focusing on learning more instruments (irish, i know

) Flute is the first instrument I have ever picked up and immediately taken to, I'm not a natural muscian, but I think flute maybe ...I don't know I just find it really easy

So am deffo focusing on that right now.
