When I was at school I really hated sports!!! I was forced to do stuff that I was not good at and that I was medically not allowed to do!!! But now that I have been diagnosed with a funny joint problem (it only took them til I was 16 to work out that I was rubbish at sports, and they gave me a reason!!!) I am getting into golf...I love golf, rubbish at it, but I enjoy it. I am also getting into lacrosse....it is so so so fun!!! Again I am not very good but I enjoy it, and it gets me out exercising!!!!! STUPID JOINTS!

I've been doing ballet for 13 years now and I love it. Which is strange because my teacher did ballet too and had to choose between dance and music college, I'm not looking forward to that decision sad.gif
I also like cycling and hillwalking. Things that aren't classed as 'proper' sports that I enjoy include climbing trees, 'exploring' (also known as walking in forests but ignoring the paths) and medieval football (which is like rugby but with no rules at all!)
I know some musicians that do martial arts and loads do stuff like yoga. I used to do pilates because I hurt my back (too much flute and ballet! sad.gif )

I do dancing too .. American street tap ( that's the funky sort) , Jazz and latin dancing. Lots of people don't think dancing is a sport but I wonder if rugby players could manage 2 hrs solid jazz or tap dancing!
I like swimming too but only for fun.

If i had to choose between practicing piano or practicing athletics-which is my fav. sport- i'd rather practice piano of course, but in my free time, i usually go to the track to run and jog for a while.

I LOVE sport! as in, absolutely, totally, full-heartedly love sport!

i do competitive running, soccer (captain of 1st XI junior girls smile.gif), archery and athletics, but i mainly concentrate on the running, highjump and longjump aspects. i also used to do gymnastics until a short time ago where my musical commitments put too much strain on it.

sport is healthy! laugh.gif

Same with me it's so bad at school ain't it! I am really into horse riding and I have (up until recently) played a sport called floorball which is kinda like a softer version of hockey with a few diff rules its pretty good though! laugh.gif

Softer hockey - sounds good biggrin.gif - too many bruised knees dry.gif (my shins are protected, but for some reason, people at our school seem to be able to get the ball above the shin pads and on to your knee-cap dry.gif )
I quite like horse riding, I went on a pony trekking trip to wales last year and loved it, but it's just the cost with two lots of music lessons as well

Swimming or windsurfing.

I detest any kind of competitive sport.

Humm,

Aren't swimming and windsurfing competetive? Sorry I know what you mean. Sport is what you make of it though like music. Sportmen/women and musician have more in commmon than they think.

Dedication, drive and single mindedness. I dont think it is a case that musician dont like sport it probably that they dont have time to dedicate to it!

I used to be the goalkeeper for the school hockey team too!

And I got an award for netball...being the person who was on the pitch/court whatever it is, for the shortest time. I got injured within 2 mins laugh.gif

I love badminton - but I play rugby a lot as well.

By starting at such a young age that the natural fear of what you're about to do may well end up breaking your neck hasn't developed fully yet. I learnt before I realised what getting it wrong would cause. Now I've not been able to perform/compete for years, I would be terrified to even think about throwing myself over a vault for example!

I used to do gymnastics at primary school (just for fun), and I remember doing all sorts of things I'd never do now. Infact, now I am not supple at all, and would be scared stiff! Actually then, I was always cautious of the vault!

I hated sport so much at school I elected to spend sports lessons doing the school garden (can't remember exactly what I did to it though... laugh.gif ).

(This was only after I became a self-conscious adolescent - before that I was a good sprinter....hmmm..... dry.gif )
