I never enjoyed sport at school (always last to be picked in a team) and now I'm in my late 30s I pick and choose. Cycling is my favourite to participate in, athletics is my favourite to watch. Most sports have no relevance to me at all. I will never understand why people want to watch football, rugby or golf!
That's my opinion anyway - I'm prepared for opposite views!

I used to go and hide out in the music room at PE times.
Once even took drumming lessons because it was the same time as PE.

We LOVE watching the Olympics

even though we are not sporty at all. I was always the last one in sports at school.

The only "sporty" things VN and I do for health are ballet for both of us, tai chi for me but karate for her.
My fav sport if you can call it that is solitary long walks for at least one hour (pushing a buggy, of course!). It's very relaxing, clears the mind and restores one's perspective.

Same here!
I used to play tennis and did trampolining (till I almost broke my neck) and we also have to do P.E. in sixth form. I'm doing swimming this term, but I'm more of a tennis/badminton/squash person really.

Was a golie for the school but quit because I always got grazed knees at the end of the match, it's even worse when we have to play on concrete.
Play rugby sometimes, not good enough to join a local club but good enough to frighten the pants out of everyone else at school.

AP and I were talking to members of the trampolining club yesterday and it does seem that non-sporty people like trampolining as it doesn't appear to be overtly sporty, more just like good fun.

I quite liked it at school and didn't mind being in one or two teams from time to time. We didn't have to do it every day though, so perhaps that helped.
It's only since I've grown up (have I??

) that I've got to dislike it so.
May be something to do with the way it's pushed down our throats on tv.

I wasn't to start off with, then I hirt myself and I got really scared, and now I'm just cautious! But it feels so good when you can finally do something by yourself! I don't think you get that so much with team sports.

I can do running, but I have to get enough enthusiasm for it! I suddenly decided I wanted to run the other night, and ran to the other halls of residence and back, started off to quick, but wouldn't let myself stop and ended up shattered! I slept well that night though!

I do believe in the idea of a "sound mind in a healthy body", although anyone observing my first trip to a running track in 14 years last Friday may doubt that assertion!
However I do think musicians do sport a disservice if they only analyse its benefits in terms of whether it enhances/diminishes musical performance. After all musicians are also people, and I think sport has a great deal to offer everyone, musicians included, in terms of health, enjoyment of life and character development quite independently of musical advancement.
I think it is a great thing that those who dislike competitive sport have a wide range of challenging activities like rock climbing, canoeing, hillwalking, recreational swimming and diving etc etc to choose from. Personally I enjoyed competitive team sports the most (particularly rugby) - despite not being a particularly good team, our coach had the insight to match us against teams of about the same standard, so it was usually an enjoyable tussle.

I love watching sport, with a few exceptions I'll enjoy anything if it's played at a high enough level to be really skillful/exciting.
I have always been rubbish at *doing* it though.
There are a few sports I enjoy but none that I am good at at all! And quite a few of them I loathe to even try...

Tess: football (don't even like to watch it unless it's v important national game!) hockey, netball (those two probably partly on account of bad experience at school

) and not especially into doing anything particularly violent or dangerous - ie love to watch rugby but wouldn't want to play, don't really even like to watch boxing, and not fussed about martial arts though they're interesting to watch sometimes depending on which ones.
edit: after seeing noodle's post, yeah, golf

My friends at school made up a sport game called "hand ball" which is like a square with four people in it and you'll have to try to get people out by hitting the ball across the boundary...it's quite cool. We got heaps of people everytime at lunches wanting to play it now... became a famous game.

The composer Arthur Honneger wrote a piece entitled Rugby, about the eponymous game; it appears to be rather less popular in the concert hall than his similar other work Pacific 231, about a train.
Debussy's ballet Jeux depicts a game of tennis, with some hanky-panky on the side, IIRC.
