Full Version: Fitting A New Bridge
Forums > Viva Network > Viva Strings
fiddly diddly
Hi has anyone got any experience of fitting a new bridge, I understand this is a skilled job but I fancy having ago myself. My Mother has given me her old violin, although its not anything special it is sentimental all the same. It needs all new furniture apart from the pegs. I dont think I will have any problems fitting the tail piece, chin rest but its getting the bridge the right height and so it fits neatly to the belly.

I need to know how I would gage the right height and also what tools would I need to do the job. I was amazed and delighted to find the sound post is still standing upright in what appears to be the correct position.

Don't do it... Find a good luthier and get him to overhaul the instrument.
