and about the programme note.....what is the meaning "the achievement of the composer"
i took dip abrsm this year but i failed. i hope i can pass it next year smile.gif and one more...how to learn about making programme note (ex: background of the pieces etc)?

thank you very much...... smile.gif

I can't remember the exact requirements but I seem to remember that it isn't compulsory to play each piece from each period. They do though like you to demonstrate at least 2 or 3 different periods.

As for the Baroque it is not compulsory to play a piece from this category, but it is recommended to be able to demonstrate, as it will show the examiner how good your technique is. It will probably come up during your viva voce why you may have not included a Baroque piece. It could possibly affect your mark.

I am hoping to do my DipABRSM soon but at the moment my Bach Toccata is holding me back.

As for the achievement of the composer I have not looked into the programme notes that far ahead to be able to help you.

It is not a must to do so, but it is recommended . It is because the syllabus states that you should demostrate different skills and techniques. However, you are free to choose your repertoire. May be you should expect to be asked how you choose your repertoire. Moreover, you can visit http://forums.abrsm.org/index.php?showtopic=7610 you know more, as rieuwa did not include a Romantic piece.
