Anyone from the forums, going to Tasmin's masterclass at RAM on Nov 14? Just wondering...
I was asked whether it's OK to get her autograph?! I said to VN - Err, I'm not sure...

Yesterday's class was excellent so I don't feel like going especially since the weather is horrible and somewhat depressing. But then I promised my friend's little girl (yr 6) ... who's so looking fwd to it so much, so, I'm just wondering whether anyone from here will go? It's free.

Meeting one/two of you will be a bonus!

Yeah, we went to this masterclass and at the last minute, VN's new-found friend could not make it... but it was excellent so I've done a summary note for her last night while things were still fresh in my memory.

If anyone would like a peep, pls e-mail me and I'll attach it. Don't PM me as I have not had time to clear/read all the messages in my inbox yet!!!

Hehe it's much faster to answer forum queries and then quickly revert to the kids than dealing with longer PMs. Oh dear, I may be addicted!

Providing I don't end up with rehearsals or similar I will probably go.

I tend to kill two birds with one stone when I visit the RAM and have some lunch with a friend of mine - Frances Palmer, curator of the York Gate Collections.

Yes, fantastic! But only the YG collections not the YG lectures as I can't find a babysitter for the lectures. There are some wonderful lectures coming up!

EDITED - VN's friend came over yesterday and played all afternoon. Emma Coulthard's book which was very fun and easy peasy. Had a great time and the girl wants to go to Tasmin's and with VN, too, so we decided today that we have to take them both even though I'm feeling ill today. Hope it's not my hubby's bug which lasted a whole week! Hope to get well soon and then see you there!

I'm easy to spot because I shd be sitting with 2 little girls! One has long blonde hair and the other has a dark bob. One seldom sees little girls at masterclasses as these sessions are normally for postgrads but as it's Tasmin Little, there may be more... young fans!

Just to report back ...

VN found the masterclass boring! She really enjoyed the last masterclass she attended very much! That one was by Thomas Brandis, a former concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic as he was to her a very gifted performer cum teacher! VN thought TL was "just" a performer.



PS.
I ended up with 3 girls there to bring round - one Carribean, one Oriental and one English blonde! All 3 absolutely loved the gallery where the Strads and luthier were.

Jane, Maxim is coming anyway quite soon to do a recital at RAM but RAM haven't confirmed the date to me yet as it's not yet 100% fixed as now. I don't know whether the school will let her get away with a Maxim recital next term - the school may think it's highly entertaining as opp to educational! But VN's a very funny lass despite her quiet appearance - she's not exactly an angel, don't let her self-discipline/motivation deceive you. She'll act ill on the day!

I didn't get there in the end as I had to go to the Surrey Arts Library to collect a load of string orchestra parts for the up-and-coming Christmas concerts.

I'm glad the girls enjoyed the string gallery with the Strads , even if they weren't so happy about the masterclass.
