Im Learning the pieces for clarinet grade 4 and the study is really hard.
I cant hold my breath that long and i turn blue trying to play it.
My friend laughs at me but i dont find it funny

I guess all i can do is practice long and hard and hope i dont die in the process.
the piece is called : Study 39

Has anyone else played the Study 39 and if so ... Have u any tips ????

Just practice it in sections, and make sure you are breathing from your diaghram...or however you spell it. Please don't die playing it!!

Yeh ill Try not to die but its not garantied

its along time not 2 breath !!!!!

saxlover
Make sure you breathe in the correct places as well, and take big breaths when you do breathe!

Or play it faster hehe!!!! laugh.gif

I love Voi che sapete biggrin.gif
Deborah
Ah, Voi Che Sapete wub.gif I did that for my Grade IV and STILL love it!

I don't know the study, but saxlover's right, make sure you take really deep breaths, and blow from the diaphragm, supporting the sound all the time. If you really can't get through without fainting, are there any notes you can skip playing in order to take a breath?

How far have you got with learning it? I've noticed that at the early stages of learning, technique (e.g. breathing properly) tends to go out of the window as you concentrate on learning the notes. Play lots of long notes each day to help build up your stamina as well.

Which piece are you doing from list B?

Just realised that my Grade IV clarinet was twenty years ago <feels old and hands out Werther's Originals>. Help!

She's probably doing Donkey Ride....

you like that don't you Daisy! tongue.gif laugh.gif

Voi Che Sapete is sold by OUP in 'Two Arias by Mozart', arranged for clarinet by Benoy and Bryce. The reference number is ISBN 0 19 357838 7

I did that for my Grade 4 too, and I still really like it! smile.gif

You're actually alraedy very lucky coz I got to attend the Grd4 exam and the 3rd piece is just NUTS, you wont believe that seing staccato all over the place. If you're thinking of getting not enough air, just practice to play low B note until you could made it as long till 30seconds or more the better, then play the high C note till 30seconds or more, then after that it will be no problem for that. DO the BEST! happy.gif

My pupil is doing Donkey Ride, Pavane for Sleeping Beauty and Tumbledown Blues for Guildhall Grade 4 clarinet. My personal view is that Donkey ride is far too easy for Grade 4, as is Shoehorn Blues (this is only Grade 3 on Guildhall!).

Good luck to all those taking exams!
saxlover
Donkey Ride is definitely too easy note wise, but maybe it is on the syllabus because of all the tempo changes huh.gif

Guess what, I am going to attend grade2's exam instead of grd4!!! Just attended 1 class of grd4 and my instructor ask me to attend grd5's exam, and the piece is HARD!!! It's the Shumann's (hoe do you spell it again?) Fantasy 1, and the Bagpipe, and one more from the book 80what what what number (I've forgot!) it's harder than grd4 alot!!!!!!! sad.gif
Hulk
The Schumann Fantasiestucke.....I love it. Never played Bagpipe but the Csardas from 80 graded studies, well let's just say there's mized feelings about that piece laugh.gif .
Kenny
Yeah! that's the name, but I prefer Bagpipe, it's quite better than the Shuman's, and I likethe swingin' efect. smile.gif
