Quite so. I know Michael from G4 (amongst other things, he sang at my wedding), and the four of them met whilst studying at the Guildhall. These days, they turn up and sing at their press conferences, and the press are amazed that they actually can sing, rather than just mime! That doesn't stop them being heavily amplified at their shows or heavily marketed though.

I used to watch it, before Strictly Come Dancing started again of course!

We like it - and we'd prefer Brenda or Andy to win. Neither of us can see what it is that the judges like so much in Nicholas, because he most definitely goes off-key quite a bit!! I couldn't stand Chico before, but like Simon Cowell I'm beginning to warm to him - it has to be said that he's a good entertainer, and I actually found myself enjoying his performance last night.

I can't stand Chico at all, but I really like Andy and Brenda. Nicholas does go off key so much!

And what's happened to Gareth Gates, Will Young, and the ones from Fame Academy? Sinead, Lemar and David?? And even Hearsay has gone! In fact Liberty X - the 5 runners-up from Popstars have done better than Hearsay!

Whatever else people say about Darius, he had guts! To come back on another show after having been slated on the first one certainly took guts and determination! I always thought seeing him on the first series that he was too individual to be part of a popgroup, and was proved right when he did pretty well on the next show - I liked it when he was cheeky back to Simon Cowell!!!

Yeah I agree on the Simon Cowell thing-just hate it when people stad there and say "but I do have talent, you're blind!" when they're obviously tone deaf

Yeah, I watch X Factor but I don't think there's any outstanding talent there. I think Brenda has the strongest voice but I'm not sure if she'd sell that well. I don't know why people like Andy so much; he can sing but I don't think he has any charisma or anything special, really. I think I like Journey South the best.

Yeah, I think the only popidol/star that's at least succeeding is Girls Aloud.

I watch the X factor and I think there are quite a lot of talented people but like they're not really gonna get a good career unless they're unique. Last year, Tabby so should've won though! And I think if he did win more people would've listened to him because his style's different from everyone elses... And I like G4. The circle of liiiffeee...

Darius is now doing Chicago in the West end, Will Young was on Parky promoting new album, Gareth Gates has peetered out it would seem and Girls Aloud are probably the most high profile currently from that lot. That said, I watch Strictly Come Dancing anyway...

People keep saying where are the other finalists from these shows..............WILL YOUNG is a god and is still massive!! Lemar wasn't even a winner of Fame Academy and he's doing really well. Obviously Girls Aloud and Liberty X are still around. So they do produce some good people.

As for X factor this year, I think the standard is much higher than last year. Andy sang mine and my boyfriends 'song' last night so that made me happy!!!!! He had his mum's funeral to deal with this week too so was amazed he managed to do such a good job. Wasn't convinced by Maria's version of James Blunts song, but she is an amazing singer. I'm glad Chenai has gone. I liked her voice but she always laid it on a bit thick about personal circumstances to get the sympathy vote. Also, nobody ever seemed to metion the speech problem she had.....................couldn't tell what half the words were!!!

Oh, and I forgot to say, that Gareth Gates had a nervous breakdown I think after he had a bit of a ding dong with Jordan (though who wouldn't!!) poor lad!

That's interesting - he used to be one of the singers in his church before he auditioned for the pop stars show. I've got one of the church's CDs from back then and I think one of the pics on the album cover is Gareth.
