biggrin.gif Hello biggrin.gif
I have been playing my grade pieces so long that I think my brain has decided it's had enough. On one piece my right hand grinds to a halt as if I no longer have control over it. This is at a certain point which is a little diufficult ...........but I used to manage it ok.
It may even be linked to the sound.........when I play my electronic piano and turn the sound off and just play the keys (no sound) my hand plays through ok.
Has this happened to anyone else and do you think it's through over-playing the same piece...what did you do to solve it?

it's happened to me more times than i can remember.... i guess it depends when your examintaion is, but i stopped playing the pieces for a week or two and then went back to them? might work for you smile.gif

biggrin.gif Hello
I will try that but I have a mock exam on Tuesday and the actual exam on 29/11.
I will stop playing that one for a while or only do it once or twice twice (that's a joke by the way..not very good one)...Thanks

I am trying to learn a boogie piece at the moment and it seems no matter how much practice I put in, it doesn't improve. I have tried all manner of ways to get better but nothing works. I may have to force myself to take a week or so off to let my brain rest and start afresh. This is what others seem to suggest and I think it may work for you too.

Yes, unfortunately it happened to me in the warm up room immediately before my grade 4 piano exam. Tried over and over again to get through it before the exam and couldn't; so I had to just go in and play, somehow I managed to get through it in the actual exam but it was very scary. I think it just comes from trying too hard; it's difficult but try to relax and not think about what you're doing. Had a similar problem yesterday: my trill just wasn't coming out, if that happens think about the other hand or try to think about grinning at just the time of whenever it is you stop, it makes you think about something else and your hands do the rest biggrin.gif.

laugh.gif never heard of that one - will have to try it - though just on piano, don't think it'll work so well on the flute as on piano...
