There doesn't seem to be many recorder players down in my neck of the woods.
Anyone able to come to the Somerset Playing day on Nov 26th?

No...but I'll be at the Cumbria all day workshop next Saturday!
Will you be coming to Casterton next April (1st and 2nd) for annual SRP festival? Should be a fantastic event!

Where is it? I live near Taunton, although I've just had a baby so I don't want to venture miles and miles away just yet.

Hi elliewelly
A recorder player living near me! Hurray!
The Somerset SRP meet in the village of Ruishton, just outside Taunton so should be quite easy for you to get to. We meet in the village hall which is quite easy to find. If you want any more details just PM me, or you could find it on the website
www.srp.org.uk
Otherwise it would be really good if you could come to the playing day on 26th. Starts in the morning but I am just going for the afternoon this time.
Congratulations on the arrival of your baby!

Aha! That's about 5 or 6 miles away (I'm in Trull) so I will try to come for some of it, although I would have to bring the baby... do you think that would be OK? What time does it start, and what else would I need to bring?

Hi, it starts at 10.30 if you want to come for the day, or 1.30 if you want to just come for the afternoon (until 4.30).
Do bring your baby! A music stand as well would be useful!
Hope to see you there.

I will try to come, I'd really like to! I told hubby and said, "but I'd have to take Kate" (assuming he wouldn't want to, or be available to, look after her all day) and he said, "why, am I working that day?" which I don't think he is. That suggests that he might have her for the day, but as I'm breastfeeding her it could be complicated. Best bet is probably to come for half a day and bring her, nip off if I need to feed her, and hope she doesn't cry too much. I'll see how things go!

Great. See how you go. I will be there in the afternoon, so maybe I will meet you.

It just occurred to me... do I have to be a member of anything to come along and play? And is there an admission fee? I'm planning to go, either for the day or the afternoon. What do you look like? I'm short with lots of straightish red hair, and oh yeah, I'll be the one with the baby!!!

Hi elliewelly
No you don't have to be a member. As this is a special playing day visitors pay about ten pounds for the day and five pounds for half day. On a normal meeting, just for the afternoon, we pay three pounds.
I will find you easily as you will have a baby!

I have got short dark hair, but I will introduce myself to you. Sometimes with a busy family I find that I can't make it, but I am really hoping to be there. See you soon.

Just looked on the web site and found that I was supposed to apply by November 11th or something like that

I hadn't even heard about the day then.

Is it too late to book a place?

Hi, I don't think it matters if you just turn up on the day. I think they like people to book just to get a rough idea of how many are coming. They will certainly be glad of any extra people - they certainly wouldn't turn away a new person who hadn't booked.
I will give Joyce a ring just to double check for you.

Thank you. I will be coming just for the afternoon too because that is when Kate tends to be most settled.
