Thanks Soph and Berkshire mum - I know it's illogical - maybe it's linked to the lack of sleep and stress and so on... but I can't shake it - I've nearly finished my Christmas shopping, so I'll look into that surprise idea. Maybe thinking of someone else will help.

I will be ok - I got sacked from the tiny part I had in Oliver!, because I can't dance... I haven't slept in two days - too much to think about... since I got dropped from Oliver! I've been feeling like everyone's looking at me seeing how rubbish I am... at dancing, at socialising... especially the guy I am in love with (ok, I know.. crush... repeat, it's just a crush). I feel ugly and talentless and awful and as though everyone's looking at me, either hating me or pitying me. My Oxford interview was rubbish, but everyone keeps saying "I'm sure you got in" which is nice, but yet more pressure... and I just feel like an ugly, awful, reject failure...
I know... whining about nothing... but that's what I feel like now.
I think you're lovely.

Hey Lucky. EVERYONE feels like that sometimes. If they don't then they're kidding themselves or totally cocky.
OK, so maybe musicals where you dance aren't your bag. SOmething else will be. You'll find it and excel.
Crushes are tiring because it's all one-way. Eventually you'll get fed up with it.
Keep smiling and think of others, always works because what goes around comes around.
Jo, hope you are better soon.

Warming soup and crusty bread, no butter.
Warm bubble bath and early night with good book.

That's sweet.
And Lucky, I was the little girl who when they tried to put the hairnet on for ballet exams, no matter how much hairspray they used my curls always poked through, so I was teased about it. So I sort of know what you're going through. Nobody though I could dance until they found I naturally led of the left foot! Then with patience, a dear friend mananged to turn me around.

I think this is partly a reflection of the thread we're on!!
If it cheers anyone up, I'm feeling very up and very well, if a little tired. My daughter is coming home on the 21st - whoopee! OK, only for 9 days, but I haven't seen her since 1st Sept, and she won't be home again until mid-August, so I'm going to make the most of it. And my brother is bringing my Mum down on Sunday for a fortnight, so all is good here.
Hope the rest of you feel better very soon!

Hopefully this means I won't be due another one until after Christmas - fingers crossed!
Currently doped up on as much codeine and aspirin as it was safe to take (threw in some ibuprofen for good luck too). Someone recommended a cooling forehead stick... whoever thought that up has obviously never had a migraine... About as useful as a chocolate fireguard

Just wanted a rant really...
I've just got this big promotion at work which is 5 pay grades above my current level. Everyone has decided that they aren't changing the job description they just aren't going to give me the pay rise. Apparently I'm not old enough or experience enough for the money but am old enough and experienced enough for the job.
I wouldn't mind so much but they are going to measure my performance as though I was at the correct pay grade so I'll either come out as terrible because it's way above me, or, I'll come out as fine and in which case, why can't I get the associated money
I then came up with a compromise position between where I should be and where I am - and they wont even entertain the idea.
Wouldn't mind as much but my finances have gone a bit pear shaped recently due to various things (like MOTs and roofs falling in etc) and I could have been doing with the extra cash.
Anyway, as I said, I really just wanted to get this out of my system and in a nice fairly anonymous environment

That is descrimination. I'd fight your corner. If you are doing the work and have been given the promotion then you get paid the full amount. Do you work for a company that had an HR department or are you a Trade's Union member?

If they say it's your age, then they are acting illegally since it is now illegal to discriminate by age (young or old).
This can even hold if they say something like 'you need to be a graduate with three years experience', as by default that means you can't do the job until you are 24.
Whatever happens - you must get measured by the grade expectations that you are paid for / graded at. It's stupid to pay you for a lower grade but expect you to work the higher grade...

I was really pleased this year that I remembered to book a Tesco's delivery slot near Christmas. I created an order with a bag of sprouts in it, and booked delivery for tomorrow night. I'm now trying to amend it to include the rest of my shopping, and the system has been playing up all morning.
I do not want to pay £5.99 for someone to deliver me a bag of sprouts.

Did you get it sorted?!
I know it's not funny, but the idea of someone pulling up in a van to bring one bag of sprouts did make me giggle at first
I had to shout at the postman through the window to bring the parcels round the back this morning as my family decided to take all the front door keys with them, including the one that's usually in the door! Of course they locked me in on the way out!
I'm still looking for it, but I may have to tidy the kitchen now incase I have to bring the afternoon pupils in by the back door

Imagine having to do some housework.... I'm enraged!

Yes, thanks. I successfully added the rest of the order last night. However the driver this evening said they had had all sorts of computer problems, with the computer apparently 'eating' several drivers' rounds details, and one poor woman ending up with only 8 pints of milk because the computer wouldn't let her add anything else.
