ARGH!!! I've just been cancelled on, by a friend, for the sixth time in as many weeks. A few weeks ago, when it stopped being an upsetting coincidence, I stopped inviting her to things - it's so not funny when she invites me, and still cancels!

The worst thing is we were meant to be going shopping, and buying a joint present, she's given me a day to come up with a completely new idea, and get the twenty miles into a decent shopping place somehow to buy it. I specifically asked her to let me know if she could make it in plenty of time!

I'm even beginning to resent the phone credit I'm using, texting details that never actually come to be used.

It started off like "sure, that's fine, of course I understand, no worries", and now I'm more like "sure. Whatever you say. Fine." Next time I suppose I'll actually tell her how rude and obnoxious it is! ARRRRGGHH

Thanks Nicki and SF. I went out with my mum today, I bought two mini bottles of champagne, one pink, one white. A specially picked box of thorntons chocolates, and some lush "toner taps" and I'm going to put it all in a specially wrapped (by me) shoebox with a ribbon... Hopefully that's good enough for an 18th... unsure.gif

It means I'm angry! I burnt my ear with straighteners, then went downstairs to make lunch - I wanted to grill some chicken. My dad's working at home today, and I was just muttering under my breath about how annoying it was that my brother hadn't cleaned the grill pan, and he started shouting at me. All I said was that people should clean up after themselves and he started shouting that that's not how it should work... That my brother shouldn't have to clean the grill after he uses it. So we got into an argument, and he kept saying things like "why do you refuse to clean up?" (which I never do - I always clean up after myself! And I was cleaning up after my brother at the time!) and rewording everything I'd said to make me sound illogical (ie, I'd say "Everyone should clean up their messes" and he'd say "oh, so you think you should never ever have to clear anything up?"

Anyway, he ended up going "YOU'RE WRONG" really loudly, and then I shouted back, and my throat hurts, and I have an audition thingy later which decides whether I get to sing a solo at my next concert.

Oh well, drama over, my dad was apparently stressed about work. He cleaned the grill pan for me as an apology - everyone's happy!

My throat's still a bit sore though *breaks out the lemon and ginger*.

ARGH! My twelve year old sister got together with a 17 yr old boy in my friend's shop. I'm trying to sort it out - since clearly that's not a relationship. So, I've spoken to my sister, and she's agreed to break up with the boy - she tried, and now he's harrassing her, sending her threatening texts and saying he's going to kill himself.

I spoke to my friend, who, by the way, thought it was a great joke, and that she shouldn't tell me about it. I told her she had responsibilities to underage people she has helping out in her shop, and she basically said it's nothing to do with her, and I should stop being such a loser and caring about my sister's relationship! Like it's a relationship - it's sick!

She also has a thirteen year old girl there, who is apparently, too ill with ME to go to school, but is capable of being at the shop putting up shelves. It's ridiculous!

ARGH I'm so annoyed!

You are absolutely right to care and, if necessary, to interfere (and it sounds as though it is necessary here). Your little sister is lucky to have you. It sounds like a very worrying situation - is there anyone that can help you?

I've spoken to my parents about it. They say, though, that there's nothing they can do right now, my brother and I have more influence over my sister than they do - she looks up to us. We've got her to see reason, between us, but now there's just this (legally adult in some ways!) boy harrassing my sister, and basically, we're just trying ignoring him for the moment.

Seems I've lost my friend. I told her to grow up and accept responsibility, and said she was being pathetic. I might apologise for the pathetic remark when I'm calmer, but...

I think you were right to speak to her as you did, though it's an awful thing to recognise when a friend has let you down. She may feel more responsibility than she's willing to admit at the moment, but be too embarrassed to acknowledge this, so you may be able to build bridges, but if she's old enough to run her own business, then she should be old enough to look out for young girls under her care.

If the 17-year-old continues to harrass your sister, then you might have to think about reporting him. I'm so glad she has listened to you and your brother.

Bother, bother, bother!!! mad.gif

Went to Tesco's this afternoon (warrants an aaargghh in itself IMO!) and bought, among other things, 6 bottles of wine. (No, not for a party, just so I could get the extra 5% off. biggrin.gif ) The checkout girl offered to put them in a wine carrier for me, so I agreed.

When I got home, I unloaded the car (as you do) and brought in the wine along with other bags. We have a door from the hall into the kitchen which is see-through - 4 panes of glass separated by thinnish bits of wood - I expect you know the type. Just as I got to this door, the bottom of the wine carrier gave way and all the wine bottles fell out. Unfortunately, one of them smacked into the bottom glass pane and smashed it. Aaaaarrrggghhh! sad.gif

The door is almost 30 years old, so what are the chances of being able to replace one pane of patterned glass? Probably approaching zero, so we'll have to get the whole thing reglazed. What a pain!! It's the last time I trust a cardboard wine carrier - they used to be quite sturdy, but the current model can only be described as flimsy. An expensive visit to the supermarket, I think.

Oh, dear - and the wine? I think a complaint is valid.

If I were you, I would pop into Waitrose and buy one of their excellent wine carriers (yes you will have to buy it). Then whenever you shop in Tesco, whip it out with a flamboyant gesture and exclaim loudly that you don't require one of their flimsy contraptions.

That's a relief! Perhaps the flimsy cardboard contraption can be remodelled in to a temporary empty-pane cover if there are any jagged bits that need covering smile.gif

for goodness sake, what is in a person's little mind that they say "I don't actually want to talk to you" then they text you and almost implore you for help -- then when you try to help..

guess what? they refuse to talk to you, they block you on the usual communication channels, email, msn, PM...

how petty and selfish is that?

There wasn't anything in particular I have to play, but given that its aimed at grade 7 upwards (I think), it had to be something not-too-easy. I'm playing the Grieg Notturno because I thought it was the piece I'd have the best chance at.
