Arggggghh

I can't get warm sad.gif

Log fire, central heating, huge woollen jumper, small and warm dog shoved up said jumper, two pairs of socks and my fingers are still like sticks of ice... no chance of doing any violin practice.

Off to do some star-jumps...

I've had three men in today to cut some trees down in my garden and to do a general tidy up as everything was overgrown. I've just been out to inspect their work - as they've just left - and find that they have totally destroyed my herb garden. There is nothing at all left of it. What total idiots! Ok, much of it had died off for the winter, but the rosemary and sage were still going strong. When I moved their ladder and some cuttings they'd left on top of the herb garden to see if there was anything left of it I cut my hand on some thorns, just to add insult to injury, so to speak.

I am furious. mad.gif

Ah, what morons. I'd be furious too.

Poor Holz! Back to Tesco growing herbs then for Christmas! It's so frustrating when you get someone in to do a job and they make another one. Did they sort out the rest of the garden as you wanted?

They have to come back tomorrow to finish off. It's a pity because the rosemary bush took quite a while to become established and only really came into its own last year.

Meh...I've had the cold for a week and I'm sick of it...

Now it's mostly a cough, but I can't talk without setting it off. Bah.

I just found the Clare college data protection form on my shelf un-filled-in and not sent off (I swear when I looked at it before there wasn't a signy bit!!). I sent it off straight away, but I have a feeling it was meant to be in a couple of weeks ago. My friend has also done exactly the same thing.

This can't be good! sad.gif

Don't worry, Sarah - all the best academics are totally disorganised! tongue.gif

Seriously, the only people who will curse you are the admin staff; the lecturers won't take any notice of a form being in late.

The thing is, almost everyone seems to be getting interviews at the moment, yet neither of us have. unsure.gif

But has anyone else applied to Clare? The colleges all have their own schedules, so try not to worry - you haven't heard that they don't want to interview you either!

I'll be very surprised if you don't get an interview. smile.gif

Another friend has applied to clare and has an interview date (although she's applying for natsci, not maths)
BerkshireMum
Shouldn't be long now, then, before you hear! There could even be a letter in the morning. I know it feels good to have a date, but the nerves will kick in then, and you've enough to cope with at the moment with your grade 7.

I'm still trying to cope with the fact that so many people in your college apply to Cambridge! I think there were about 6 from BerkshireSon's school last year. It must be nice to feel one of a big group.

It's nice in a way, I guess. I have at least 3 close friends applying, and a lot more people who i know relatively well, not to mention the ones I don't know at all!

I really can't win!!

Having been given a piano with headphones, my family have stopped complaining about the loud music and are now complaining that the pedal is shaking the house blink.gif They shut up a bit when I offered to play the other piano instead though laugh.gif

A promising young pupil of mine arrived for her Grade 3 exam today having been fitted with braces last week. These were the sort that were drastically changing her lower jaw, with the result that she couldn't manage to play any of her middle register notes. sad.gif sad.gif

If only I'd known, I'd have suggested they wait a week to get them. sad.gif

Oh dear, how disappointing for all concerned. I hope your pupil isn't too depressed about it; it takes a while to adjust to wearing braces, and as long as she understands this she can put it down to experience. It's hard if she hadn't realised that it would affect her playing.

Arghh! i had my other 2 teeth out today ill.gif

It was awful! the drugs make me feel very sick for the rest of the day, and they taste horrible!

Once they had numbed my gums (which took ages because the bottom one wouldnt numb!), they started on the top tooth (don't know exactly what it's called, but its the 3rd one in from the wisdom teeth), and it was really stiff. after ages of tugging, the dentist (whose baby is due in 2 weeks) had to stop because her hand had gone dead, and she was sweating, and couldn't go on!

I got very worried, and felt horribly sick! the tooth was still lodged in, so they had to call for another dentist, and in came a massive woman who wrenched at it! my head had to be held still because of her strength!
There was blood everywhere when it finally came out, and im in a lot of pain despite pain killers!

I then had to repeat the whole experience because the bottom tooth had to come out as well!

They made me stay for a bit after having them removed, because i felt horribly faint and light headed, so i wasnt allowed to stand up! wacko.gif

I'm not having any more teeth out, but i get braces in a few weeks, which will mean my whole mouth will be hurting!

I'm going to bed! I know i just had to sit in the chair, and then i was lieing down all afternoon doing nothing, but i got very worked up and stressed about it, and have been feeling ill all day, and i'm shattered now!

Oh dear! I hope you get some sleep, jacobpfo, that was a bad day in the chair. Maybe the brace won't hurt so much.
Try and cheer yourself up by thinking what the dentist will be going through in 2 weeks. biggrin.gif

Have to say though, that to me, after the agony of an abcess and then a root filling, having a baby was a breeze!

Sympathies also to lottie - don't know what's up but I hope it can soon be sorted.

Poor Jacob, that sounds horrendous. The good thing is that you don't have to have any more teeth removed. I hope you feel much better tomorrow.
Miss Ross
Poor Jacob. It's worth it though. I can finally smile again now after a couple of years of treatment. Although I have a rather warped mindset when it comes to pain...enough said. smile.gif

And lots of healing vibes coming in your direction, Lottie.
Maizie
I'm so glad that I had my braces done with all the teeth-removal required done under general anaesthetic! I think I had four teeth taken out for them...

I had two teeth removed when I was 17, done with local, and fortunately they went easily (which was pretty miraculous, as the teeth had actually mostly fallen apart by that stage so there wasn't much left to grab ill.gif )

AAARGH!! No matter how nicely and politely you ask, no one in this flat EVER cleans up after themself! I'm happy to leave people time to wash up at their own pace, but I've just spent two hours cleaning a kitchen with weeks of dirty dishes piled in the sink! I do mine, and the other side of the kitchen does theirs as soon as they are used - so that's four people managing to make all that mess themselves! Then, of course, after two weeks, when they haven't washed a single dish, they start having to borrow my dishes, and leave them unwashed too! GRRR!

Why can't they just occasionally wash up?!

AAArgh!!! Stupid phone!!!!!

Why is it that the only time it would ever even consider dying on me has to be when I get a puncture about 2 miles from home and am nowhere near a phonebox?!?! mad.gif

Now I'm covered in mud and really late, so I most likely won't be able to go to one of my best friends' 18th this evening if I want to get work done for tomorrow without staying up all night to do it, that is assuming I could find something to wear in the first place....

I came home on Tuesday to find a no-parking sign in front of our house but no indication as to why. Yesterday morning I came back with my daughter from her theory lesson to find the pavement in front of our house totally blocked off with no access possible to our front door. As I started trying to dismantle the barriers a workman appeared to say that he had knocked on the door before he started but no-one had answered so he'd assumed nobody lived there wacko.gif He moved things to let us in ...

By the afternoon, when other daughter had a cello lesson, they had started digging up the road. Again they had to dismantle the barrier to let us out and (in again) and as it was pouring with rain there was mud everywhere and my house opens directly onto the street sad.gif .

Today they're digging deeper and the whole house is vibrating ph34r.gif

Aaaooow! About a month ago, a drunk driver in a LARGE van ploughed his way through a phone pole, and was still going fast enough to flatten our concrete wall, demolish the gate, damage our front porch and window shutters, turn my bicycle into a giant potscrubber, and send a railing post from further up the road flying into our car. party1.gif

We have patiently waited for the driver's insurance people to do things in their own time, and not been greedy or aggressive (only tempted, heh heh)!

But now they say they'll pay only about 1/5th of the new price of my bicycle, "because it's 3 or 4 years old". Perhaps they'll let me know where I could buy a skateboard for that price!

...I don't remember asking their client to drive into our house in the middle of the night? I suppose they will buy the driver a new car....but what about my bike? argh.gif

I'm in trouble with my dentist. I had elastic bands put in today that are slotted between the teeth at the back to seperate them ready for braces next week, and he told me to be very careful to not let them fall out.

I don't think he put that one in very well, it was quite lose when he did them compared to all the others, so its not entirely my fault!
