Not having a great few days...
Any ideas on how to resolve major arguments with housemates? Over, get this, the state of the kitchen... (which is currently as clean as its been all year)!

I'm so glad I didn't bother with uni... I'd have ended up murdering someone if I'd had to house-share with a load of messy people who stole my food from the fridge

Its certainly an experience! House sharing isn't only a student thing though...
As it was, I need not have worried so much. We'd both returned to being human today (as opposed to unreasonable, premenstrual etc females) so managed to resolve stuff without scratching each others eyes out. Glad I told her yesterday that no way was I talking about anything then when we were both so angry, and to defer it till tomorrow; even if it did make me spend all day being anxious!
We'll see how long peace lasts though!

I hate working in London.
I know I come on this thread and moan about it every time I have to work here. It's probably because in between I forget how bad it is, and then on the day itself it's just horrible.
Mind you, today has bright spots:
1) as always, I have taken the afternoon off - I resent having to do this, but it means I only have to face one rush hour!
2) my husband is working in Marylebone, so he was with me for most of my journey this morning, and we'll be meeting to travel home together later on.
3) actually, he's working very close to the London Recorder Centre. But I shall probably not go there, I shall probably meet him in Foyles...

I can bear commuting, when it's on my bicycle to my normal place of work. I can not bear commuting in London. I had to get up ridiculously early anyway just to get here, but what sleep I do get on 'London nights' is horribly interrupted as I keep waking up with panic attacks.

Ah, but I have thick skin and sharp elbows so I'm OK!
I have to say that the commuting bit isn't my favourite part of the day, but I enjoy the benefits of living in London so much that I can put up with it - 10 years ago I never thought I'd say this but I now can't imagine living anywhere else.

Grr... my piano exam date for my local centre clashes with my holiday, which of course wasn't the week we asked for (we asked for the last week in the session). I might have to go all the way to Norwich instead to do my exam, which may mean an earlier date...
Hopefully the AB will be able to change/sort it out. But if I have to go to Norwich or even Great Yarmouth, Dereham or King's Lynn, oh well...
Got my exam date sorted now - 17th July in Norwich, so the week I come back from holiday.

We can't find the piano acc. part for one of my pieces and it's too late to order one online to arrive by next Tuesday. The exam is on Wednesday.
So with six days to go I might have to learn a new piece!!!!

Is it just me? I there a thing as being too polite? And what the heck is it about today?
First of all, I work late evenings in a company, where I usually have to stay till 10:30 pm which is quite an ordeal already. It gets worse, when I have to do overhours, which happend yesterday and the day before. One overhour and I am home at midnight, where I need at least 2 hours to come down from the day. I said yesterday to my collegue, I will go earlier today. And, just to be sure, that she isn't drowning in work, I asked again, today, if it is ok with her. And she said no, she doesn't feel well and she has an early appointment and rehearsals for theater after. And I gave in. And regretted it immediatly. It is hot, I am tired, I don't feel to good either and I just want to go home as I said I would today. I was exited the whole day about it.
I, then, decided to go down to her, since it isn't the first time that happened. Either with her or with her collegue. I am always the one retreating, giving in. And I told her, for the first time ever, that I am not ok with it. And we got quite loud with each other, but I made my point. And what did she say: If I ask her, she has a veto, if I tell her, I go, she wouldn't have. Is that crazy? And luckily, before I told her, I am not ok with it, I ran into the office manager and asked her, if we both could go earlier today. We can. So I really could make a point, since we both got our will. But what about that comment. If I asked her again, she can say no, even though, I already told her the day before, I would like to go earlier today???? How mad is that?
Edit: Oh, and by the way, I am during daytime selfemployed, plus preparing for the flute exams for that I might one day be able to become a teacher, plus I am learning to create wooden flutes and recorders. So, I have a full day schedule as well. It is not only her. And she knows that, too.
And than, the next thing which happend, happened to be in the very forum of here. I really got fond of one of the recorder thread, since people really seem to care and change ideas, and meet up and stuff. I found it quite informative. I have happened to have looked for a thread for my own instrument, but couldn't find one. And when I decided, I try if I can get one going, someone else revives an ancient thread nobody never seemed to use for that instrument with people in it that seem to be inactive for quite some time instead of giving the new thread which happens to be now just one down below even the slightest chance?
And that in one day!!! With such great social interactivity, one really tends to let drop humanity.

Restarting often seems to be the solution to computer-type problems. I realised just how much I relied on this when a little while ago my sax developed a problem. My first thought was to take it apart, pack it away and then get it out again to see if the problem went away!
It was actually something fairly easy to sort out, but the restart option wouldn't have worked.

I'm so fed up with my choir. We are supposed to perform in Birmingham at the music for youth national festival and I don't think half of them realise what a big deal this is. They continually fail to turn up for rehearsals and some of them still don't know the words. I asked one newer member why she joined and she said cos she wanted the badge!!!!!
I'm giving them one more week to take it more seriously then I shall take the small handful who are totally committed.

Getting an exam date out of Trinity's diploma centre is nearly as hard as pulling teeth.
Getting a date that works for both my accompanists adds a whole new dimension of tricky-ness.
So both accompanists have known for some considerable time which week it's likely to be, and one of them managed to tell me the times they are available. The other didn't say any unavailable times.
Armed with that information I approach Trinity to get my time and date sorted.
On Friday, I get a time and date that works on the basis of the information I have, and let the accompanists know.
And then, this weekend, I find an e-mail telling me that my appointment clashes with another commitment the apparently uncommitted accompanist has - a commitment that I can quite understand is impossible to move, and would take considerable precedence over playing for an exam.
The accompanist in question must have known about this appointment for a long time, so WHY ON EARTH DIDN'T HE TELL ME!!!!!

grrrrrr...........
AH well, back on the phone to Trinity AGAIN in the morning.

I CAN'T DO PHYSICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got a core science module test tomorrow, and I'm doing practice papers
I got A*s on most practice papers in Biology and Chemistry. I just did one now and got 89% and 92%.
But physics is another story. I just got 61% and haven't got any higher than a B
Our physics teacher wouldn't let us revise in the lessons, because even though we told her that we only had two lessons left, and really needed some help with revision, she insisted that we had at least 6, and carried on to a new topic which we don't need to know until next year. Then she said that she'd be in school at lunchtime so we could come for help and ask questions- she never showed up, apparently because she works part time
It's so haaaard! All the equations and what-not. I can't do maths. I can't do maths in science either. Grrrrr.
I'm off to revise. Will be back when I get at least an A in a practice paper

I'm not sure if there are plans for Ave Q to tour, but yeah, definitely go see it, I was in tears of laughter almost all the way through and am going to see it a second time when I can persuade enough friends to come along again!
