Aaarrrggghhh!
Not that I've had a bad week; in fact, it's been quite delightful, especially the last few days on holiday in Cornwall.
However, I went to use my car this afternoon only to find the battery flat. Bother, thought I (or words to that effect...). Nothing daunted, I decided to dig out my battery charger. However, could I find my battery charger anywhere? I hunted high and low and couldn't. I subsequently had a vague memory drift into mind that it died a few years ago and that I disposed of it. So, after a journey on foot into town, I returned home with a brand new battery charger courtesy of Argos. No problem now, thought I!
Unfortunately that was not to be the case. My battery is in the boot of my car. Whilst, with the battery flat, the central locking won't work, I'm able to open the driver's door with a key. I can also unlock any of the other doors from the inside. But which door do you think refuses to unlock with the central locking on, and which door I can't get at from the inside?
Yup - you've probably guessed it. The flat battery's in the boot, and I can't unlock the boot to charge the battery without unlocking the central locking. And I can't unlock the central locking without charging the battery....
Grrrrr! Did the people who designed the car not consider what the owner would do in the event of a flat battery?!
I've now got a Heath Robinson arrangement with wires leading from the battery charger into the cigarette lighter attachment, but it doesn't seem to be working. I guess it might just be time to admit defeat and call out the RAC....

EDIT: Some two hours later, I've now found out that it
is possible to unlock and open the boot manually.
However, the new battery charger which was reading that the battery was fully charged when I had it wired up a la Heath Robinson (and which made me think I was doing something stupid!

) now says the same when connected directly to the battery, and refuses to charge it further. However, a check with a multi-metre shows that the battery is quite flat. I guess that the new charger is dud.

Aaarrrggghhh indeed!
