Oh, no - more hospitalisations. sad.gif Best wishes for your mum-in-law and Dad, fsharpminor. I hope amidst it all you are able to enjoy your grandchild.

Not good news I'm afraid ....

Sadly my gran passed away today. It was very quick at the end and sadly no-one was able to be with her at the time. I've been to say goodbye and have spent most of today like this IPB Image

Feeling very sad and drained right now. Just thought I'd update all the well wishers. Please use those wishes and prayers for my family now. This is going to be a long haul as the death cannot even be registered until Tuesday.
We are going to go away and try to seek some pleasure out of a few family days away as nothing will be able to happen until after we get back anyway.

My thoughts are with you too F#m.

So sorry Dawn. I know how much you care about all your family members. Try to enjoy your few days away this week. See you soon.

I am sorry for your loss.

I don't know if its any consolation, but I think sometimes it is better and kinder when our elderly go quite quickly. My own grandmother had a long lingering decline to her death, following a major stroke that left her blind and with no idea what was going on, and having to be fed by tube for several months. Watching that deline was one of the most horrible experiences of my life, and seemed such an unpleasant end to hers.

I hope you have an enjoyable holiday.

My aargh, for today is so minor compared to other peoples... just boyfriend-being-an-idiot-issues. Honestly, the last day we're going to be living together for the next 3 years, I'm off home for several weeks now, not going to be seeing him etcetc, first chance we've had in ages to spend some decent time together... and he goes to a band practise.

Perhaps other forumites can understand music >> girlfriend, but I'm not one of them. sad.gif

Agreed.

Am feeling rather sad because one of the students I was teaching last week has just lost her brother, in Australia, at the age of 29. She had a phone call from home on Wednesday to say that he had just been diagnosed with leukaemia and would be starting chemo that night. And on Saturday he died...awful...

Just seen this - hope she is home now.

This has all been said today .... Better for her and probably us too. Doesn't stop us feeling so sad now though... sad.gif sad.gif

Trying really hard to concentrate on all the good times - there were many and they just keep popping into mind ... She was so full of life, so funny, tolerant and loving for so long .... she'll be much missed.

So sorry to hear this, Dawn. sad.gif It's sad to have to say goodbye, but at least your Grandma didn't suffer the frustrations of inability to communicate which often follow a major stroke. Hope your days away help to cheer you all up a bit.

grouphug.gif It's tough having to be apart for three years. sad.gif Perhaps doing something like band practice is what helps your boyfriend to come to terms with it? Everyone reacts differently when faced by a major change in their life, and some prefer to carry on as if it isn't happening.

Hope you're able to relax for a while now after all the exertions of the PhD. smile.gif

Very sorry to hear about your grandma DawnF. And that it happened at a bank holiday because it delays things so much.

And I hope all the other folk who are ill or in hospital are getting better.

Perhaps it might be therapeutic to write down your memories?

Even if not, I hope the good times you're remembering will help you over the next few weeks and months.

Yes, she is, Louise sad.gif .

Another argh for another friend having bad times - her 16 year old son has been very difficult with major behavioural issues for some time...then suddenly diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis...and now has had to have a complete colonectomy sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif .

It seems that so many people are having a bad time health-wise just now (hugs to Celeste, Misterioso to name but two) - and many condolences to DawnF. I still remember the shock when my gran died - I thought she would be there for ever..

On another note - my scream for today - Porsche is on axle stands with the steering rack out sad.gif took it off yesterday and awaiting new parts! It had power steering which was leaking I'm going to convert it to a manual rack as they tend to all have problems (the power steering ones)!

just seen this, so sorry to hear about your Gran, DawnF. Hope the things that have to be done are happening now xx

My Arrgghh, miniscule in the light of everyone elses is that I've just had the most appalling practice ever. After being ill since Thurs night, I'm supposedly better...but not enough energy to sing for more than a few mins with support.
I NEED to practice...with the Dip and concerts starting next week, how on earth am I going to be ready in time?

This is a sad arrrgh. Our little dog Tommy has been put to sleep this morning. He had beccome very thin and frail, could no longer stand, was not keeping food down and for the past two days was refusing to drink. I have seen the end approaching for some time now. I spent the morning sitting with him and the vet came just before 12.30. I rang the surgery early this morning and they asked me to take Tommy in but I refused. I said I would prefer to pay for the visit as I thought he deserved to die in his own home. He has kept us company for 14 years and was already five or six when we got him from the RSPCA. So he was very old - in fact the vet said he was the oldest dog on his books.

He was originally my father's dog and came to us when Dad died. The vet was very good with him and he slipped away peacefully in my arms. We will very much miss the cheerful wag of his tail but I can only be glad that he had such a long and happy life and that he died peacefully in his own kitchen.

Student Finance [England], A big pain in the backside. Well it may not be the site, but the fact that the information I want to supply I can not - Bank details. I'm wondering if anyone has done it (online) recently?

OK, the breakdown:
I'm with Nationwide and asked for:
Sort code: Done - it's generic
Account Number: Done - it's generic
Building society roll number: on my passbook it's in the form 1234/123456789, but the site only allows 1234/1234567. On the website it says "enter up to 18 characters" and that 1234/1234567 is not 18 characters...

Gahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A real annoyance, I've search the web and am currently looking through a 245 page thread on student room forum for help...

Cyrilla
So sorry to hear your sad news, Aquarelle - but you so did the right thing for him and he knew he was loved to the end.
