ARRRRGH my teacher was so rude to me this morning - she told me to go and get a social life and meet some people instead of doing 4 subjects at school...... sad.gif sad.gif
lucky045
That is really rude BBTOTW!
I think you should complain. I never do, but I think other people should when people are rude to them.

For my scream see the Stone thread... or a quick recap:

I'm so stupid I never bothered to learn theory, now if I ever want to get anywhere with singing I have to learn up to grade five in 8 half hour lessons. My singing teacher doesn't know if I can, I don't think I can... and despite it being perfectly normal to need longer than that, I'll feel like such a failure if I never get past grade five singing.

Aww..I'm sure it'll be fine in the end thereThere.gif
I can't really complain, because she the seinor teacher and it's only the Head above her really, and I don't want to make a fuss...
lucky045
She sounds absolutely obnoxious to me. I suppose a lot of people in life are like that though, really... If she ever says anything along those lines again though, come up with a snappy comeback... and if you get in trouble for it, then you can air your complaints about her rudeness.
BBTOTW
Oh I'm not too bothered about it any more... Last year the Head said that same thing to me, and so she obviously agrees - what can I do about that?
lucky045
Everyone should completely ignore me, I know it's a total pathetic cliché and seems stupid but I am in need of this thread just to scream:

I AM SO FAT!

sad.gif
Miss Ross
Sorry to go against what you wish Lucy, but I can't ignore you! ohmy.gif *hugs*

We've all felt like that sometimes, infact most of the time if truth be told. Please try not to get upset over it, especially as from the photos I've seen, you have a lovely figure and have absolutely nothing to be concerned about. Hope you're ok sweet. x

I have really had a week FULL of pupils, children and Adults who have made excuses about practise - not done much / not done any.

I increasingly ask myself "why do I bother". I'm seriously considering cutting back on teaching, and after 35 years of it, I think I deserve the time to concentrate on MY performance skills for once.

Children are cramming so much into their busy little lives they're no dam good at any of it much of the time.

VERY VERY CROSS THIS WEEK

NEXT WEEK - BE AFRAID............VERY AFRAID
Roseau
I hate fixing music lesson times in France.
Today my daughters' music school pinned up the times for the compulsory music theory class and next week we have to meet the instrument teachers to sort lesson times. My daughter is supposed to be playing in an orchestra from 2.00 to 3.00 but her theory class is from 1.30 to 3.00. But maybe they have changed the time of the orchestra class which I won't know until Thursday when I see her cello teacher meanwhile on Wednesday I have to fix her trombone lesson time which I can't do until I know what time her theory and orchestra classes are and even before that on Monday I have to fix my other daughters' piano lesson time which I would like to take place at a not too wildly different time to her sister's classes but not at the same time as my own oboe activities which I also won't know about until Wednesday.

And fixing the lesson times is a general free for all with all the parents in the room and the instrument teacher saying "who wants a lesson at 1.00?" and moving on through the afternoon. The quickest off the mark gets the lesson meanwhile I am busy calculating things like "I'd really prefer 5.30 but if I wait that slot might be taken by someone else so maybe I ought to go for 1.30 instead because if it's someone with an hour's lesson who gets the 5.30 slot, 6.30 is really too late...."

Not the best week ... several didn't turn up despite letters with term dates and reminder-e-mails. Seems to be a bad time of year for e-mail not working properly ????????????? dry.gif

One prospective mother shouted down the phone that she'd told me not to use her e-mail (any point in having it then ?) but to use her mobile number. Might just think twice about taking on that one !

One turned up half an hour early ph34r.gif one played two pieces that have gone backwards since last term, one of them a very long way backwards.

But on the plus side three were keen enough to ask if they could start back the week before ... one had worked halfway through a new book on holiday, several others have kept up their playing, so must be thankful for these !

Best of luck to all for the coming week.

Why do you have to do it in eight lessons?
lucky045
Because that's how many I have before the exam in November... then I was supposed to do grade 7 at easter... I won't have another chance to do exams before university, and I think I'll be too broke to afford lessons at uni... And otherwise I'll be stuck on grade 5.
superpyroman
If you practice a lot, I'm sure you can manage grade five in eight lessons. I learnt one of my grade five piano pieces in seven lessons shortly after doing grade four without that much practice. If you really put your mind to it I expect you can manage it. Grade 7 at easter sounds rather ambitious though. You could always carry on after university.

Yes, you're right, I might do grade 6 at easter instead... I just don't really want to be stuck on grade five... well I can do lots of work at home, and I have til the end of this months to see if I think I can manage it... and I guess it's not the end of the world if I fail... I will definitely keep going after uni as soon as I can... it's just the whole poverty thing...

sad.gif What isn't atm? I hate being down..
Well my list of annoyances:
- scales, why can't i do them in tune? or remember them? or remember the finger patterns?
- coursework: only been back less than a week and i have: food, english, french, maths and sport studies due in the next two weeks.. oh and history.
- got info about yym today and really nervous tbh, it sounds really strict and i don't think im good enough and don't want to do it etc etcc etccc
- tired and ill which is making me feel rubbish.
- new teacher for rs who is okay but really annoyed me by saying something so insulting about special needs that i cant even bring myself to repeat it.
- should be at hockey training now but had to cancel saying that i was not feeling well (which is true but i could have managed it) because i have too much stuff to do.
- grade 7 pieces, why don't they sound nice and good like they do on the cd?!!!!!!!! haha, okay why don't they sound half as good as the cd!
- got the date for my exam, its so close im so scared! don't know anything to do with aurals and i can't sight read.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM NORMALLY SO HAPPY AND HYPER AND ITS GETTING ME DOWN EVEN MORE BY BEING DOWN AND STRESSED ETCCC.

I only have one piece of coursewrok to tackle at the moment...
maddielou_
Hahaaa.
Year nine was the best year, i wish i was still in it.
Year ten wasn't so bad, just get everything done otherwise you get to beginning of year eleven and still have loads more to do and the stuff left from y10. Tis a nightmare.

Urghh, im making it sound worse than it is but im just in a rubbish mood lol!

I didn't enjoy Year 9 any more than the other years.....
At least I don't have to do Geography, Art and Drama ever again...

OOps. I forgot to update my signature laugh.gif . I'm in Year 10 now
maddielou_
Hahaa I adored year nine. But that was because of stuff like the whole year becoming more friendly and growing closer and we have lunchtimes on the field just messing around and it was ace smile.gif.
But year ten was good as well.
and year eleven isn't too bad, just hard work.

One time when I was hugely preggers with Jen, there was an enormous one in the stairwell. You know the type, about a foot across, hairy legs, fangs, a wicked leer on it's ugly face; and I went next door and got the son, Anthony, age 17ish at the time. Well, Had a bad day with everything thats gone on.

And then there is music... ASlevel...We have to do a piece in music - there are 8 of us, and each person has a 'moment' in the piece - except me, however I am happy not having one. I dont have confidence, especially not while I am new and I am comfortable on the part I am on. Next week we have to perform in front of the sixth form... the music teacher today said shall I write you a part with harmonies on? I said no because I am happy with the part I am playing... I dont know what he is going to do, or if he will make me play something I am not comfortable on. It is worrying me, because I know I will panic more about playing if I dont have a part I am comfortable on.

I know you probably worry, but just think that the music teacher was courteous enough to ask you before going and writing you something difficult. He probably won't do it since you asked him not to, and if he does, you can go to him and explain that - especially for a first piece - you'd be uncomfortable and nervous playing a difficult piece. Your teachers want you to do well, I think he'd listen.
