I was eyeing for a job (without which - I need to move from the house I live eventually and move out of the city uproot my family and may be live away from my family for some time ) for the last 5 months and had done all the necessary background work needed.I am in a very specialised field so these jobs don't come by easily... ok I might not have got it after all but found out when talking to my ex boss, who has had years of experience that he is going for the same job. sad.gif sad.gif

Don't give up hope, notaclue. You don't know what the people in this new job may be looking for. Perhaps they will want someone they can mould to their own ways of working and might think your ex-boss too set in his methods. All you can do is sell yourself as well as you can, and hope it's enough. Getting any job in the present climate is hard, because there are a lot of good candidates around. Best of luck!

Seconded - also, sometimes, they may not want someone as senior as your boss. I've been turned down for jobs because I was apparently "too senior". (though I'm not a boss and have never been). All the best.

I got a job that someone more senior to me in my previous firm also applied for. I think they would have had to pay her more, due to her experience, so I got the job. They may just not like your boss, so there is always hope.

Stupid hire car company dropped off my car and keys to the wrong building. So I have to chase around to find out where it is. And then I discover that the car is a Pergeot 106.

Now, I know I specifically asked to have something nice and small. So happy it isn't a bus that I'll never be able to park. But I can safely say it is the most horrible thing to drive I have yet to experience. The pedals feel floppy under your feet, and the gear stick feels like it might just fall off in your hand. ill.gif

It has 2011 plates, and is very much bottom of the range. No air conditioning, or central locking. I am a bit happier with it after driving it here today, although going along the M40, up a slight hill, with my foot flat to the floor and the car struggling to do 65 mph was rather disconcerting...

sad.gif Sorry, notaclue. No, I think the feedback on interviews is often very honest (I had some really grim feedback when I first tried to get a 'real' job post children - but it was beneficial in the long run.) If they say you did well then you did and you should feel confident enough to try again for a similar position elsewhere.

Two weeks on from the playground accident. There is a small request in the school newsletter, and kids are still riding their b######ed scooters in the playground even though the school prospectus states everyone (everyone old enough that is) must walk in the playground at the beginning and end of the school day; there are bicycle sheds for bicycles and scooters.

I spent the night in hospital with the threat of neuro surgery hanging over me waiting for an MRI scan. I have been in pain ever since. I don't really want compensating, I just want to be taken seriously!

I inherited my Mum's house earlier in the year and sold it to the neighbours. We were due to exchange the contract this week, I had just signed and posted the contract today. However they have just withdrawn today, leaving me without a buyer.

I had put in an offer for a flat but now I won't have funds so will have to withdraw my offer. sad.gif

The only hope is to see if someone else who was interested would still consider purchasing the house, but they put in an offer a few weeks ago now so they may have found somewhere by now.

Oh dear, what a nuisance for you. thereThere.gif This system allowing people to withdraw at the last minute does cause a lot of problems, but it's how things are, so it does no good to get angry. Perhaps the neighbours' circunstances have changed and they feel they can no longer afford it. It's rotten luck for you with your flat purchase though. sad.gif

I do hope that you may find that the other people are still interested, but if not, best of luck with selling the house again.

I have known the neighbours for 17 years and got on well with them until yesterday! Apparently one was ill in hospital so they opted to pull out. They think they know someone interested but this does not make up for it in any way at all. It means I probably can't move in 2011.

yay.gif Tom congratulations on Grandfathership. We have six month old Anna's baptism next weekend. She just got her first tooth this week !

Tom, congrats on becoming a grandad.

Join the not-quite-walking wounded club. It is not fun so I can feel for you there. My ability to practise is limited too as my back pain prevents me from attacking the notes with full weight and limits my flexibility around the piano.

I hope the hands get better soon. I had eczema as a kid and hubby has psoriasis so I'm used to seeing inflammed angry skin and know it is not nice.

Try not to get too anxious about it though ( I know easier said than done!) as this will only make things worse.

Our house is full of emollient and unscented moisturiser to help when hubby needs it. When things are bad he uses a steroid cream, however during the steroid breaks the emollient and intensive moisturisers are a godsend.

Both boys had very dry skin to the extent I used to have to bathe them using emollient as a soap substitute. It made lifting them out of the bath interesting as both the bath and the boys were very slippery.

Take care, and look after yourself.

It seems to run in families sometimes - and's quite distinct from other eczemas. Will make a note of the cream. Good luck MT

One of our sufferers swore by salt water or, better, a trip to the seaside - though whether it was the sea air, seawater, or less stress that did the trick I wouldn't like to say. Our worst sufferer found nothing helped and all creams (incl. steroids) made it worse. Another finds a heavy-duty moisturiser, if applied as soon as an attack starts, can almost stop it and suppress the cracking phase - but cold is one trigger for her, and I have doubts moisturiser would be the answer if heat is the trigger. It's clearly a variable beast.

PS Congrats too!

Ah, those have not been suggested to our sufferers. Do they do more than suppress itching? Anything to do with fingers becomes painful to impossible because of sweling and cracked skin. Do you find the A/H helps that? (For weeks at a time yours truly has been the only one around here able to dip fingers in water; luckily I have washerwoman hands and skin.)

Public service message - I am just a random internet person not a doctor smile.gif but my experience is as follows:

For me, antihistamines suppress the rash totally. I only get this sporadically so it is a viable solution for me - if it gets above 25 degrees C for a few days, I just take one at night the first day I get the rash and it will go away within an hour - my mum has it all the time, and I think that's why she doesn't want to take antihistamines continuously. I don't know the long-term effects of doing that.

I have to play a new piece by Liszt at a house concert in 6 weeks from now, and right now practicing is painful (more so than the usual pain in the ears rolleyes.gif ) and it is doubtful if it will be ready in time.
...

Commiserations - I have pompholyx too as does my mum. She says that a cream called Psora helps her - it is some sort of Indian medicine, ayurveda I think. Don't know if this might help you. Hope you recover soon.

Congratulations on being a grandfather!

Thanks for the sympathy, tips and congratulations.

You have reminded me that when I lived by the sea in England I never had an attack. In Holland I have had it every Summer, but this is the worst.

I'll give all the suggestions a try (systematically of course). I already know that hydrocortisone doesn't help, and a moisturiser only helps in the last phase. So off to the chemist for some Antihist=amines, whie I wait for the "Psora" to arrive in the mail.

Incidentally, for other sufferers, I have found that an ice-cold Gel-Pack applied for as long as you can stand it at the first sign of itching, and every hour or so for several hours afterwards can ward of an attack. [Sadly not possible this time]

Having 3 children means I need to work however this means I now have practically zero time to practice piano. I am having my first lesson with my teacher since end June tomorrow and can't remember when I last had a proper practice session. Also being at work means I am not at home and therefore paperwork/cleaning/tidying is not happening and mess awaits each evening! Finally its pre-test time (prior to entry to secondary school at 13) and my gorgeous 11 year old, unlike his peers, has yet to receive his offer letter. To top it all, my job at the moment is paying less than I paid my (ex) cleaner and comprises of making a database, printing labels and stuffing envelopes.

Once again.. elderly parents sad.gif

It's beyond appalling what can happen to you at the end of life and I'm totally traumatised. To cap it all my brother is now leaving the country for a few years and I wish it was me. sad.gif

Eczema update. Bought Anti-histamine (Loratidine) tablets. Took one. Itching stopped, vesicles shrunk a little.

Klavierkat ... that is such a shame ... you played so nicely at the last gathering. Is there really no way that you can find a half hour a day completely to yourself, not to be interrupted unless the house is burning down, or a falling plane is on collision course for your practice room?

I didn't spot that, but I did read that Tom was connected to the internet by a 20-foot cat.

I have always found cetirizine a much more effective antihistamine than loratidine. Despite working in chemicals, I do get rashes and itching from time to time which I think is due to residual detergent on my clothing
