QUOTE(Mad Tom @ Oct 10 2011, 07:27 AM)

1. The hot weather last weekend has brought on another attack of Eczema (pompholyx) just as my hands had completely healed from the last attack

. I have to play a new piece by Liszt at a house concert in 6 weeks from now, and right now practicing is painful (more so than the usual pain in the ears

) and it is doubtful if it will be ready in time.
2. Chronically injured left foot hurts so much I cannot walk more than a couple of hundred yards. [Young forumites - if you like to run and play soccer, please be more sensible about it than I was]
3. My roof repair has not worked. Last night's heavy rain found its way into the electrics again and shorted out the conservatory lights
4. The list of chores I HAVE to do gets longer each day, not shorter. [t is only a matter of time before the pile of undone paperwork reaches the ceiling]
5. My wi-fi router has failed, so I have am connected to the internet by a 20 foot CAT5 cable, trailing across the lounge and hall, direct to the cable modem.
Looking on the bright side ... I am now a grandad

Many sympathies, Tom. But a warm welcome to the Forum's grandad club!
Gee thanks. Meanwhile ...
6. The red-wins stain I thought I had removed from my best white shirt is still visible
7. I burnt my finger on the iron-stand
8. Will someone tell Marks and Spencer that sticking a label on a shirt saying "Easy Iron" does not actually make it any easier to iron.

Commiserations - I have pompholyx too as does my mum. She says that a cream called Psora helps her - it is some sort of Indian medicine, ayurveda I think. Don't know if this might help you. Hope you recover soon.
Congratulations on being a grandfather!
It seems to run in families sometimes - and's quite distinct from other eczemas. Will make a note of the cream. Good luck MT
One of our sufferers swore by salt water or, better, a trip to the seaside - though whether it was the sea air, seawater, or less stress that did the trick I wouldn't like to say. Our worst sufferer found nothing helped and all creams (incl. steroids) made it worse. Another finds a heavy-duty moisturiser, if applied as soon as an attack starts, can almost stop it and suppress the cracking phase - but cold is one trigger for her, and I have doubts moisturiser would be the answer if heat is the trigger. It's clearly a variable beast.
PS Congrats too!
Thanks for the sympathy, tips and congratulations.
You have reminded me that when I lived by the sea in England I never had an attack. In Holland I have had it every Summer, but this is the worst.
I'll give all the suggestions a try (systematically of course). I already know that hydrocortisone doesn't help, and a moisturiser only helps in the last phase. So off to the chemist for some Antihist=amines, whie I wait for the "Psora" to arrive in the mail.
Incidentally, for other sufferers, I have found that an ice-cold Gel-Pack applied for as long as you can stand it at the first sign of itching, and every hour or so for several hours afterwards can ward of an attack. [Sadly not possible this time]
