I remotely connected to her PC saw the issue and then stupidly tried the link by copy and pasting it into my own PC. This caused the same virus warning to pop up.
After finishing on the phone to her and having to escalate the issue I restarted my PC. A couple of applications had disapeared so I reinstalled them. Then I started getting other issues.
I asked the engineers for some advice and they decided to run a scan on my PC. This did not solve the issue so relunctantly they reimaged and I used an alternative PC for the rest of the day.
Today they finsih with my PC and give it back. I plug it and everything seems to work after setting up a couple of things such as my Outlook profile, apart from my PC would not connect to the phone server. This meant I could not join the helpdesk phone group, so couldn't recieve calls on the helpdesk. This is about half of the job I actually do so I was a bit cross.
The engineers could not solve it and systems say it is not something they support and that my manager deals with it. Problem is he went over to the Chelsea site this morning so can't do anything until Monday at the earliest.
I am never testing a web link for anyone again!
My job is to help people with technical difficulties, not to have issues myself!
