Yesterday I was troubelshooting an issue for for a user who couldn;t access a web link sent to her by a colleague. She had called because he PC was popping up virus warnings, via MS Forefront.

I remotely connected to her PC saw the issue and then stupidly tried the link by copy and pasting it into my own PC. This caused the same virus warning to pop up.

After finishing on the phone to her and having to escalate the issue I restarted my PC. A couple of applications had disapeared so I reinstalled them. Then I started getting other issues.

I asked the engineers for some advice and they decided to run a scan on my PC. This did not solve the issue so relunctantly they reimaged and I used an alternative PC for the rest of the day.

Today they finsih with my PC and give it back. I plug it and everything seems to work after setting up a couple of things such as my Outlook profile, apart from my PC would not connect to the phone server. This meant I could not join the helpdesk phone group, so couldn't recieve calls on the helpdesk. This is about half of the job I actually do so I was a bit cross.

The engineers could not solve it and systems say it is not something they support and that my manager deals with it. Problem is he went over to the Chelsea site this morning so can't do anything until Monday at the earliest.

I mentioned (again) the fact that one of our training band clarinettists is playing with right hand fingers tucked behind the clarinet when not in use.
Commented that his teacher must be constantly reminding him of this and he should remember when not in a lesson.
He said no, so I asked if he didn't do it in a lesson. He said yes he does but heis teacher never mentions it.... scary thing is I believe him.

Right now I am hating budget airlines with a vengeance, (and especially the one with a bright orange livery). mad.gif

I arrived at the airport in good time, only to find a huge queue of at least 120 passengers, and only one check in desk open.

I called across to the one member of staff on dduty and asked if I had enough time for the Newcastle flight. I was told just to wait in the queue. There were dozens of people with skis to check in, (presumably not flying to Newcastle), which all took a lot of time. When I finally got to the check in desk I was told that I was too late - not because the plane had departed, or even that the passengers were on board; but because it was now "less than [the arbitary] 40 minutes before departure, (35 minutes to be precise), and it was too late for them to re-calculate passenger numbers (i.e. taking a number and adding one to it).

When I asked for an explanation I was told (I quote) "you should have just pushed in". As much as I resent having to spend my Friday night in an airport lounge it has to be better than spending a night in A&E - which I suspect might have been the outcome if I had pushed in front of 100 budget airline passengers as suggested.

Oh, and when the queue had subsided, and I had missed my flight, they brought on six more check in staff. mad.gif

SB

Oh dear! Sorry to hear that, Swell Box; very annoying indeed. sad.gif I hope you aren't too late for whatever you hoped to do in Newcastle.

Realised its 'that time of year again' when I feel very vulnerable in light of my accident on 15th January 2010.

Because I dealt with the immediate aftermath myself, I am now very aware just how much I suppressed at the time in terms of pain and distress. I'm sure in future years things are going to get easier. However it is still close enough to make things difficult.

Plato was much more comfortable last night Dave as he had a pain killer shot. The vet decided to bring forward his Blood glucose curve so he is back there at the moment under going tests.

As he is a laid-back chap and the staff are very friendly at least we'll know how much insulin he needs after this.

His right hip was giving him lots of pain yesterday (arthritis) and once we can sort out the blood sugar levels and fluid balance for his kidneys, I'm sure he'll be more comfortable.

Was taught how to give sub-cutaneous fluids yesterday. He appears to like that.

It is a good job I'm good with needles.

I have no heating now! winter_brr.gif

System has been mysteriously gaining air. Yesterday I went round the house and checked - two radiators working completely fine, three hot at bottom but warm at top, three hot at bottom but cold from there upwards. Mental note: phone plumber and let him know it's getting worse.

Had day out. Forgot to phone plumber. Got home, husband has Right Hump because there is no heating, and he didn't phone the plumber because he didn't know if I'd phoned him or not. And I pointed out that even if I had phoned him, it was at least all working that morning!

Hot water is in same system, when there's air in it, it is sooooo noisy. Got up at 3.45am today to switch off hot water from boiler (bang bang bang bang bang) and put immersion on instead.

Suspect that we now have so much air that it has caused an air lock, so no heating at all. And we've got air in some of the valves which makes the hot water so noisy...
fsharpminor
We have gas man coming tomorrow because the pump is so noisy, sometimes sound like a helicopter taking off , so I reckon its on its way out. Also got an occasional overflow from header tank pipe.
Boiler broke in hotel Tues night so no heating or hot water yesterday morning. Restored today though.
I assume you have a bleeding key to clear the air from the radiators, Maisie ?

We do, but that was initially making things worse and not better! Apparently our tank in the loft fills very slowly...so when I went around and bled all the radiators at once, when the heating next came on, the tank hadn't fully refilled - so it woudl suck in air, and make banging noises like the house was about to fall down! So, the idea was that instead of bleeding all radiators at once, I should just do one, get that one fixed, then move on to the next. Unfortunately, we can't bleed out the air faster than it is getting in. I strongly suspect the water must be escaping somewhere, but we have no visible signs of a leak. Plumber was talking about pressurising/pumping the tank in the loft, to overcome the slow refill, will see what he says - can phone him in five minutes smile.gif

Plumber was talking about pressurising/pumping the tank in the loft, to overcome the slow refill, will see what he says - can phone him in five minutes smile.gif

Has the incoming valve to the loft tank got bunged up with limescale other grit, so the flow isnt what it should be ?
This happened to us with a loo. It was taking ages to fill, so if you 'went' after someone else, it would still be filling after you had 'been' and couldnt flush it again. It was some muck in the ballcock valve.

My gran is very ill in hospital... My parents were called in by the police at 2am because they couldn't get hold of my granddad (who apparently can sleep through anything!!) because they didn't think she would make it through the night... She did, on dialysis but is still very touch and go.... sad.gif

So sorry to hear this, thinking of you and your family x

Spoke to plumber, his thought now (that I told him about lots of bubbling and water out the overflow on Sunday) is that the boiler thermostat has gone - it's causing the water to boil, hence it's evaporating out and there's less and less water each time the heating comes on until...there's not enough left and your heating decides to not play. He hopes to be here later today to at least refill the system so we have heating, even if it is going to run down to nothing again eventually (hopefully he'll have a new thermostat by then).

Grrrr Cold Callers!

Bad enough most days, but yesterday I got a call from a bunch of Ambulance Chasers 'trying to help me get compensation for the serious accident I had in the last two years!'

It took two times to get it through their thick-skulls that since I lit the match that set light to my hair, it was an 'at fault' accident, therefore there was no compensation owed!

That was a call I could have done with out. Amazing.. since then everytime I've had any form of lighter or match in my hands my hair is pulled away from my face... can't think why wink.gif .

They shouldn't call after Sunday! Two years will be up!

Hubs ankle is still not healed sad.gif
They've given him 4 more weeks in an inflatable boot. Not constructive for job hunting....it's already been 9 weeks. We're all a bit in shock. I'm trying to get him to go and visit his parents as the flights are really cheap and he can't do anything here that he couldn't do there...

Your poor hubby. I bet he's feeling really low right at the mo. A trip to see his parents might be just what he needs.

Hope things look up soon. thereThere.gif

You not only have a musical gift jod but a desire to communicate it. And a very precious one it is too!
