sonorous halo of sound
I am playing two of the movements from Joseph Makholms Trois Impressiona for my DipABRSM and I am having a right old job finding any information on him. From what I know allready he is a French Canadian and is a Proffesor at the Paris Concervetoir of Jazz, and thats about it. The edition I am playing from has some blurb written by Makholm but I'm looking for a little more.

Cheers now!

Perhaps if you know that he teaches there you could email him: I looked at the Paris Conservertoire website and there's an email address for the jazz department and someone there may be able to point you in the right direction (I'm assuming that you mean he's a proffessor of jazz at the Paris Conservetoire and there isn't another institution called the Paris Conservetoire of Jazz, although I may be wrong; and also by saying he is a professor you are implying that he's still alive...). Anyway, if you're interested the website with contact details is here the whole thing is French but even if you can't understand French too well the email address should be quite simple to find (I'm probably not allowed to actually post the address here due to the forum regulations (even though it's published somewhere else rolleyes.gif!)).

Make sure if you do find out how to contact him that you ask him specific questions not just 'tell me something about you' or similar as that may annoy him! I'm sure he won't mind you talking to him though about his work and it'll sound quite impressive if you say in your viva that you contacted the composer wink.gif.

I just googled his name - I only found 3 things, none of which were useful, but one of them seemed to imply he was dead (as he was born in 1898 or something)

Here is the links page from Royal Holloway College Music Dept. Rather a lot of sites to trawl through but one of them may turn up something.

Great. Thanks very much all!

I'll have a look on the Paris conservetoir website (though the French language isn't my strong point...though neither is English!)

THANKS AGAIN!
