Full Version: Syllabus Recordings Grade 5 Trumpet

My son is taking his grade 5 trumpet exam next term.

In the past I have been able to help him quite a lot (having played flute in my youth - a very long time ago!) but now his musical knowledge exceeds mine. However I would like to still help as much as I can of course.

I see that for some instruments there are syllabus recordings of exam pieces but it seems not for the trumpet? It's a shame as then I would know for sure if he's playing his exam pieces correctly and he could listen to the recording to "brush up" on these pieces and get them more precise.

Has anyone any ideas how I can help him with this please? All comments gratefully received.

they don't have recordings for trumpet(the only instruments they have are piano, violin, cello, flute and clarinet). does your son have a teacher? i think the teacher can help him or record the piece for him if it is possible. also if you have music software like Sibelius you can actually put the music into it and it will play it for you at different speed(you can also put the piano part in to play along with).

Thanks for your answer. Yes he does have a very good teacher but I'm not sure if he would feel that recording the tunes for him would be a good way to brush up on them, though of course he does help him during his lessons. We don't have the software you mention but I will look into it as it may be worth investing in it. Thanks again for your interest.
