Do you think that the music in harry potter 4 is better than the music of the other 3 films???
recorderzrule
I love the music for PoA but this new music is perfect for the film because it seems to have stepped up the standard and the films will become a lot darker now so I think the new music is fab, loved it.

I think John Williams composes the music for the Harry Potter films (but I'm not 100% sure) if you wanted to get the sheet music for it.

Ditto!
You know you've got a problem when you go and see Harry Potter and come out thinking how nice the music was biggrin.gif
Helen
I liked whatever it was at the beginning of the film. It's completely escaped me, but I was thinking at the start how nice the solo was.... rolleyes.gif cool.gif

John Williams composed the music for the first three Harry Potter movies. I think Patrick Doyle composed the music for the latest HP movie.

Yeah, he did. I went to see it yesterday. Anyone worked out what he did to the theme at the very beggining?? It was kind of sisnister and I thought maybe it went minor but I thought it was already???
recorderzrule
Yea the theme was sort of triplety or something, more syncopated, definately more sinister! Loved it!

You can hear it here at amazon if you scroll down, you get 30 secs of each track.

hmmmm, well before i start I'll make it clear that I absolutely hate the harry potter films. I don't feel they convey anthing at all and there is none of the magic or emotion that there is in the books. The cast is appalling and the acting is very poor indeed. ('Everything is going to chanmge now isn't it?'.............ten hours later: 'yeah'. Yeah, yeah I understand that a 600 page book can't be condensed to a 2 hour movie, but some of the cuts are horrendus!! These films just make me feel sick!!

Having said that (rant over!! mad.gif ) I have seen them all, and I think Doyle has done a very impressive job. John Williams original score was suitable for the 'smiley, happy ever after' format they used for the first three films, but it wouldn't have worked for GOF. The film wasn't much better (soo awful, I had to close my eyes as the people I was with wouldn't let me storm out!! Too embarassing they said!!) but the new score was amazing and worked really well, espcially since the original theme was incorporated in!

People seem to think the films should surpass the books. They are not trying to. It is just an addition. The main thing is the books and everyone knows that. The films are just a bit of fun.

We like them.
Helen
People build up expectations for the films from the books, when naturally they won't cover so much material because of the length of the books!
Devil_Fiddler
I think for the first time with this one, it did feel a bit rushed, as if something was missed out.

Yes, because as we've said countless times, the info in trhe book cannot be all put in the film. It would just be too long.

Sometimes with films from books I feel really let down at the end because they've missed out my favourite bit etc..but with this GOF movie I dont think they missed out too much and the stuff left in was really good. I think its the best movie so far. smile.gif

The only thing that I would say is that IF you nadn't read the book then it's kinda weird when the Beauxbatons (sp?) and Durmstrang people arrive, the explanation doesn't come till a bit later.

LOL yes i agree. hmmm who would go and see the film if they didnt know anything about the book though? *confuzzled*

I agree.. if you haven't read the book, i think it could be confusing in places! Where was Kreacher? And Bellatrix Lestrange? Anyway...

I remember the solo at the start and thinking 'wow'... I just rremember it being high pitched and eery. Would love to get the soundtrack!

I think the music suited the film because they were a lot eerier than before although I prefered the music from the Prisoner of Azkaban.
