Hey everyone!
I need a piece of music for an audition. I would like something from a fairly popular musical. I'm a soprano, and would like to show off my high notes, but I'm also a belter, and would like to showcase this as well. Is there such a piece that can show off both? And if that isn't hard enough, there has to be a reasonable cut in the music somewhere that would make it under 32 bars.
Can anyone help?
Thank you so much,
Christina

Sorry - tiz late at night. My daughter recently did a piece from 'Phantom of the opera' and because its so late, shes asleep and I cant remember what it's called. We also transposed it even higher - to show off even higher notes... I think it has a decent cut off part - will let you know tomorrow with any more of her suggestions.

Hey Christina,
I don't know if this is the song Jacky was thinking of, but I think a good choice would be "Think of Me" from Phantom of The Opera. It is a beautiful song, and would definitely show off your high notes. In fact, I really like all of the songs from the Phantom of the Opera. Maybe you could choose one of those. Anyway, that is just my opinion. Hope I helped a little!

I sang "Can't help lovin' dat man of mine" from "Showboat" at a singing class in my County's music festivals recently and it got me third place. I sang it in a low key, but it sounds fine in a higher key and the copy I have is actually written in a high key.
It requires a good range to tackle it, so why not try it?
